Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Thanks for those images mbp! The aerial view looking toward the North Loop makes me concerned that those North Loopers will complain about shadows. Anyone else think that might be a possibility? I certainly hope not, but people will nitpick this development to death if they are given the chance.

The plans for the Iron Horse have been floating around for quite some time. David Frank mentioned a purchase agreement during a North Loop Neighborhood Association meeting back in November, and I'm happy that the project seems to be progressing. Take a look at what Iron Horse did in Milwaukee, and ...

It's too small, especially the amount of seating. I feel bad for whoever is working there on the 4th of July or Aquatennial Fireworks night.I like it. It's small scale is refreshing,as is the repetitive paint and fenestration. More awards!

What do you expect for $97 Million?
This project is incredibly underfunded and short sided. Most new arenas are approaching the $500 million to $1 billion mark yet we somehow think $97 million is enough to get us another 20+ years? Very disappointing, but not much more should have been expected.

Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project
I asked one of the managers at the maps about the timeline for the major reconstruction that everyone wants. He replied that there isn't one. This is mostly due to lack of funding. There is little chance the state/county/ city could ever get the federal dollars needed to make this mess correct. He a...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
Cancer Survivors Park is too far north on the mall to get enough traffic to become a lively plaza. I don't think its the stairs that deter people, rather the half mile or so disconnection between its self and the CBD, and the expanse of surface parking lots that surround it. In the Spring and Summe...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Are there any plans to improve the east and west parking ramps? One would think that with all the expansion to the north and south they would want to beautify, if that's possible, the concrete ramps.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square (formerly Block E)
Not keen on the name "Mayo Clinic Square" but thing it's a great new direction for Block E and will better connect the business district with the entertainment district. Hopefully will increase skyway and street activity and support move retail/dining in the area. I'd guess that people wi...

Re: Vacant Historic Theaters in Uptown/LynLake
Sigh. I'd really like to see Bender push through the necessary ordinance changes so that the Granada/ Suburban World can feasibly be brought back to life as a live music venue. She tweeted the other night that she had been speaking/ at an event with Dessa and that the two had agreed on, among other...

Re: Como-Harriet Streetcar Line
I LOVE this idea! As an ECCO resident and Linden Hills frequenter it's something I think about a lot. I think you could actually extend the line to 44th & France. Much of the old streetcar path is still there. Connect three similar commercial hubs and two lakes with just a couple of miles of tra...

I was told by Meg Tuthill's office that the lane and sidewalk will be closed all through the winter. Bummer.

Re: Walker Library
Does anyone know why they closed down the inner right turn lane from southbound Hennepin to Lagoon? It's made traffic on Hennepin horrible. My bus ride home from Downtown is averaging 10 minutes longer than before. I hope this lane will reopen when demolition is over because it's really having a neg...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I didn’t mean to hijack the tread like this. I am very excited to see this lot become something, and I am defiantly concerned with the street interaction more than with the sky, but at the same time I feel like we are wasting the block sized lots. I don’t want a park at the end of Nicollet Mall, I w...

Kinda sad we consider sub-300 foot buildings skyscrapers in this town. Are we ever going to have something over 40 or 50 stories built again in this town?We officially have 2 skyscrapers under construction!

There are no plans to widen the tunnel. It would be way too expensive. I heard it would cost over a billion dollars or some insanely expensive number to do that. Well we're building a football stadium and rail for that much, so fixing one of the worst choke points in the state seems like a good use...
