Re: Vikings Stadium
Please, please, please let the stadium be a more traditional design. I feel this is more intimidating to visiting teams, rather than some abstract, new age design that Minneapolis seems to be known for. It seems ridiculous to spend millions of dollars on something that will look more like we are in...

Re: Nicollet Mall
That picture can't be winning over any neutrals. What an awkward drawing. What is that smug businessman doing just standing there on the stairs? It looks like he is being lifted up into a UFO. Haha! That's what intrigues me about the plan. And to think, it will only be 12 shorts years until that's ...

Re: The Great River Passage Plan
I agree. There are plenty of places closer to the city for hotels, restaurants, and housing. Instead of trying to make a new "urban" area happen, they should work on the two we've already got. Let growth develop naturally, don't force it.

They have conferences in that skyway? I suppose I never really looked up to see if anyone was in there.

Really? Okay, didn't know that, it must have been "long ago". Sorry everyone, don't mind me.

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)
Not like it matters but i'm pretty sure it used to be a gas station in that location and I don't think I would consider a little over 3 years ago as "long ago". Anyway, it's awesome that they are beginning construction soon.

Why would Opus even pay attention to these BANANAs? If their business is successful now, they will do just fine with a new group of people living right next to it.

Re: Mortenson Apartment Tower - (400 Marquette Avenue)
If you say on average 2 people live in each of these 3,000 units, that's 6,000 new citizens downtown. That is a decent amount but it's not like they will be moving in tomorrow, it will take a few years. I'm just curious, is the goal to reach another 35,000 people downtown in 12 years feasible?

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
You can run express service on double-tracked lines with crossovers, and probably even single-tracked lines if you have enough sidings, but the tradeoff is that you reduce the capacity of the system, make the schedule more erratic, increase the chance that small disruptions can cascade into major o...

Re: Block E
I still think that for downtown to TRULY attract people (particularly families), it needs to FEEL family-oriented, which means it needs VERY safe and accessible parks. I'm not sure very many U.S. cities do this well, and the only one that I can think of that does is San Francisco. I don't think we ...
