Re: Holidazzle Market
Sorry about that: http://www.svenskarnasdag.com You're right, it's a pretty folksy event and has dwindled over the years, but it used to be a big gathering. Tangentially, I would say having Osmo Vanska as music director of MO appeals to the city's Nordic roots in a contemporary way. He has programme...

Still moving forward. Rose seems like a well intentioned individual who has the interests of the community at heart.

The rendering on the placard outside shows a one story addition to the library. Maybe some parking too, I suppose, but it seems there will be a new structure.

Re: Emerge Career and Technology Center
The house south of the library building was demolished late last week. I hear the house was in tough shape and the lot is obviously needed for the expansion, but it is still sad to see a 100-year-old house come down so quickly and unceremoniously. It looked quite salvageable from the exterior.

Wow! Hard to believe that is the same intersection. It bears no resemblance to the present day whatsoever. This must be before I94?

Plan to extend 77th St. in Richfield under Highway 77. Seems like a no-brainer!

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I would be hard pressed to identify a better advertising opportunity in the Twin Cities than the WF Home Mortgage campus as viewed from southbound 35W as you exit downtown. The massive signage is completely impossible to ignore, and thousands upon thousands of commuters see it every day. Better yet,...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
With pricing pressure from the likes of Amazon and big box stores, it's tough for bricks and mortar retail operations. Customers mostly want convenience and value, which is something hard to offer your average metro-area shopper if you're leasing expensive space in downtown Minneapolis. If you look ...

Emerge Career and Technology Center - (1834 Emerson Ave N)
The renovation and repurposing of Minneapolis' first branch library into the Emerge Career and Technology Center is set to begin soon. Here's some background on the building: http://vimeo.com/32475681 This seems to be a great project. Looking forward to the unboarding of another builing along the W....

Is this really infill? It will be the most prominent building between Irving and the parkway, and the main anchor at the Broadway and Penn transportation node.

Re: Capri Block RFP
Alleycat, as an aside, don't make the mistake of spending years waiting for these proposals to come to fruition in hopes that they will turn things around on Broadway or elsewhere in Jordan. If you are inclined to sell and can do so, do it and move on. So few of these Northside projects actually get...

Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
The restaurant, cafe, wine bar and liquor store desitined for this building all sound truly awesome. I wonder if I could talk the Kleins into putting a real, authentic German/Turkish Doner Kebab place at skyway level. I've always wondered why there isn't one anywhere in America as far as I know. See...

WOW is right! If anything like that came to fruition, I think I would change my tune on this project. Do the developers have some sort of rights to any or all of the land in that model?

Re: Longfellow Station - (3801 Hiawatha Avenue)
Why not compare them? They're both apartment projects, both in the same basic neighborhood, and both near LRT stations. MNdible's point about the different price points is well taken, but I guess I specifically mention the Ford Bridge project to contrast what I see as the defficiencies of Longfellow...

Re: Longfellow Station - (3801 Hiawatha Avenue)
I have driven by this project a number of times recently. I'm not sure this one will lease up quickly. Aside from 38th St. station, it doesn't have that much going for it from a location standpoint. The plot is bordered by Hiawatha Ave, train tracks, a power substation (I think) and whatever retail ...

Sorry, but Duluth sure does build some ugly stuff. Wouldn't be complete with a very long and highly visible skywalk.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
One problem I see at 46th is that some peds from the station don't bother walking to intersection to cross in the first place. They cross about 20 meters to the north. Maybe to get straight to Walgreens or maybe because they're heading north after they cross anyway and don't want to back track.

Re: Mill & Main - (501 Main Street Southeast)
I lived 10 months in Flanders (Dutch-speaking Belgium) and though I never knew their technical name (thanks, ha!), I can attest to their prevalence there. In a lot of older Flemish and Dutch neighborhoods, and by older I mean as much as 300+ years old, a "woonerf" of one sort or another is...
