Re: Midtown Greenway Trail [not the transit thread]
Would there have to be some sort of barrier between the trails and the tracks? Is that extra space for the potential need for emergency assistance? I feel like the freight rail would want something.

Re: Future Cars: Electric and Autonomous Vehicles
I got a letter today about a proposed A.V. Shuttle Pilot Project. The route is 1.5 miles along Linden Ave, Willow Ave and Orchard Ln in WBL just north of 694. The route runs between some senior housing and the ymca. The picture included looks like the A.V. from the super bowl. The route would run on...

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's
Sounds like the skyway level will be getting some work between now and Nov 30. I received the below from my LaSalle Plaza building management: Beginning today (Tuesday, September 3) through Tuesday, October 15, the skyway from 811 LaSalle to Dayton’s will be closed. Access to the skyway system will ...

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's
I don't think the food hall itself is named Dayton's. Dayton's is the full building. If this project is successful I do not expect there to be a Dayton's opened in St Paul, MOA, Edina, etc. This is a one project name.

There is a trailer onsite now with a sign for Altitude Residences. A quick search says this is a building in Minnetonka. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: Google Maps
It was flying just above the tree tops. Maybe 100-150 ft max.Depends on the elevation it’ll be aerial photos or satellite. You will sometimes see the satellite images update at different times than the aerials.

Re: Google Maps
quick question... are the "satellite" images actually from satellites or could they be from helicopters? Last Friday there was a VERY low flying helicopter flying back and forth over my neighborhood. It moved slightly north on each pass. To me it seemed like it could have been updating the...

In this month’s newsletter it mentioned Network Next which is the 20 year plan. Have they done this in the past? How close should we expect it to be to reality? https://www.metrotransit.org/network-next Network Next: A system-wide vision for improved service Over the next two years, Metro Transit wi...

White Bear Lake ISD referendum - Fall 2019
Not sure the best place for this, Suburbs or Anything Goes. Please move if you think it should be somewhere else. White Bear Lake ISD school board recently approved putting a referendum on this falls ballot. The $326M price tag is set to be the largest in state history. From what I could find, the p...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I wonder if this is being done now to open the Hennepin bridge for E Line construction to start in 2023. I've also wondered what the future of transit looks like on the "L" route between downtown and 35W. Many express buses use central ave from Marq2 to 35W. With the E Line on Hennepin I w...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
They restriped 4th/University from NE to 35w recently and put in a bike lane on both. I think they removed a traffic lane too (from 3 to 2). I wonder how this would be handled once E line goes in? Here is the study page, but the last update from late 2018. http://www.minneapolismn.gov/bicycles/proje...

Baker may not have added any ground level, but they do actually have ground level retail and half (or more) of it is empty.

Re: Roseville / Rosedale - General Topics
Revolution Food Hall at Rosedale closed after 8 months, according to the Star Tribune. It'll be replaced with "a new concept featuring local vendors and a new experience." I liked the concept the 2x that I went... the problem was the execution. SLOW service and lack of any sort of connect...

This weekend they placed the new bridge and demolished the old. It surprises me that it will take a few more months to be open.

Former YMCA building at 30 S 9th purchased for ~$5 million. http://www.startribune.com/swervo-pays-about-5-million-for-former-ymca-site-in-downtown-minneapolis/499169001/ Great to see! I work north of Washington. Getting the buses to cross Washington is regularly so terrible that bus routes are abandoning service at Marquette and 2nd. The 477 for instance cancelled service north of Washington because getting buses across Washington is so bad. Box blocking by car drivers is normal...

Re: Minneapolis City Planning Commission
Exactly the same reason I don’t bike the 1.7 mile trip to my bus. The only route is dangerous. Part of it is 6(!) lanes and I’ve seen drivers cutting off other drivers as they make last minute decisions. I wouldn’t stand a chance.
