Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota

The Wilfs have the rights to bringing an MLS team to MN for the first 5 years of the new stadium being open.

Re: Washington Avenue

RBY: I really dig your idea on the previous page. That would make for a *beautiful* street. Incidentally, I drove down Washington from 35W to the NL on Friday evening. The potential is there for a really, really nice and lively corridor. I fear Hennepin County is going to screw this rebuild up. And ...

Re: 35W North - MnPass and BRT

I came across that Froggie page not too long ago and had the forehead-smacking realization that 335 is the reason that Boom Island is no longer an island. Even when the RRs had it covered in tracks as a yard, they left it separate from the mainland. But the freeways? Oh ho ho, let's fill that sucker...

Not at the moment, but Bloomington is trying to redo the entire Penn-American area around transit.

Drove past this today. That hole bapster posted a picture of now has the start of some block foundation walls.

Re: Interstate 94

That would almost certainly turn 5th St into a two-way from Cedar-Riverside to 11th Ave, no? And with the Vikings wanting to close 5th St south of the new stadium, this would all make sense.

Re: What makes a good skyline?

Does anyone know why the IDS Center often appears black when you view it from above? Science?
My guess: the glass is actually black or dark blue and we're just treated to the reflection of the sky from below. Totally pulled that out of my rear, but it seems to make sense.

Re: Northstar

United States decided the auto was primary means of transportation decades ago, moving a station to where only townies can use it isn't going to change that fact. And now we're slowly discovering that particular decision may not have been the smartest thing we've ever done. Congestion, high gas pri...

You're thinking of the orangish asian beetle that stink so much. The traditional red ladybug is not nearly as annoying, nor is it smelly.

You're half right. The Bears did crush the Pats in '85, but they did it in New Orleans.

The honeymoon with the stadium would have continued had the honeymoon with the product on the field not gone to pot. If the team stops sucking, TF will fill up again.

Which means more parts of Wisconsin that had previously and joyfully been free of FIBS get to see what the rest of the state hates so much. Cool.

Re: Interstate 94

I've always assumed the 3-to-2 lane drop is the problem in Rogers as well, but I'm not so sure any more. Ever since the improved exit ramp and new flyover was finished, the problem hasn't gotten any better. The right lane doesn't back up as badly as it used to, yet the left two lanes are still slow....

It'll be perfect for all those out-state Twins fans who drive alllllllll the way to MPLS for a game that gets rained out and rescheduled for the next day! Safe to assume you were one of those? Nope. I'm in South MPLS and am a huge Twins fan and (obviously) tax-paying resident of Hennepin County who...
