Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
On the topic of the A — or anything running west on 46th, really — Lakes Hiawatha and Nokomis are quite the E/W transit barrier. Literally nothing connects 28th to Cedar south of 42nd. Running transit on the Parkways is taboo (forbidden?), but doing so on the short section from Mel-O-Glaze to Caribo...

Re: Uber/Lyft
A person renting a vehicle from a company for the purposes of taking other people to destinations in exchange for payment. I've heard of this before. What's it called again?

Re: Interstate 94
Completely agree with the list above. Can't remember who made them, but there were Google Maps-ified mockups of a regridded North Loop without the viaducts, and a re-gridded CSAH-122 (35W / 4th St spaghetti). Those would be such huge improvments, at the cost of much less political capital. I did so...

Buy out the condos for 10x fair market value and still save money over the damn tunnel.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
Back in the Minnescraper days, possibly before Target Field, I pined for a 6th Street tunnel. It would have leveraged the Target Field and Metrodome excavations for eastern and western portals. And, because it was already full unreality, I suggested a two-level tunnel akin to Market Street in SFO o...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Stick the tunnel under 6th instead. The north portal would be on 5th between 1st and 2nd, then go diagonally under the block toward 6th and Hennepin. The station itself could be between Hennepin and Nicollet with ample opportunities for entrances at both ends and mid-block. The Hennepin County tower...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Orrrr…we could treat the disease and build a society where people can afford to buy effing toothpaste. People don’t steal because it’s fun and there’s nothing they’d rather do. They steal because they have no money and no hope for a better future. But creating a more equitable world is really hard a...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I’ve long had a wild idea in my head in which 77 gets the flyover and 62 gets widened — but in exchange for supporting freeway capacity, Minneapolis gets a calmed and pleasant Cedar Ave. That is, the connection from 77 to Cedar is severed, the viaduct over Nokomis goes away, and the grid is re-esta...

Phase II must be getting ready to break ground. Some equipment showed up a few weeks ago and the silt fencing went up in the past couple of days.

Adding a curve to Bloomington like that would slow drivers absolutely flying down the hills on either side of the creek. That intersection suuuuuuucks.

Hey gang, paid another $108 for hosting last month if anyone wants to slip me some cash on Venmo at @Nick-Magrino. Also, does anyone want to take this over? I've had grossly underused hosting for ages and would be happy to stick this on my server. I've got a few questions, but go ahead and PM or em...
