I'm will re-post mattaudio's hard work here. What does everybody else think about interlining the "purple" and Gateway lines?

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
I was wondering if we could use interlining Freeway BRT as a way to replace the 94. Imagine the 394 line and gateway line as one, running express between downtown Mpls and downtown St. Paul.
a problem it is not

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
visualizer, the photo is private in flickr... any way we can see a bigger example so we can see the station names?
Here it is. It is also accessible through my public dropbox folder.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
The East Metro looks like a malnourished branch of an otherwise healthy tree. It's a little depressing just to be looking at itI don't know. Unfortuantely, the counties are late to the game.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Yep, I already made available enough room for the Minnesota river to go in. It wasn't not a top priority so I simply kept it off the map.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Here's a map view with just the Metro routes shown. I'm happy with how everything turned out, and at this point, I don't expect any major changes. The yellow line could still use several tweaks, however. DOWNLOAD FULL MAP Key: Purple BRT: I394 to Mound (Roughly corresponds to the present bus route 6...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
From the WBL LRT study doc: 7.5 Light Rail Transit Alternatives Following the initial ridership model runs for both BRT and LRT it became apparent that the majority of LRT Alternative 1 riders were boarding and alighting in closer to the St. Paul CBD rather than at the Union Depot. In an attempt to ...

Re: America's Favorite Cities
Is it that much easier in Chicago or Seattle or Paris or Beijing to walk up to someone and suddenly be friends? First of all, I had no intention of offending anyone with my post. I don't think anyone knows a straight answer to your question, since everyone comes from different backgrounds. I'm sure...

Re: America's Favorite Cities
It's all true except the natives tend to be insular when it comes to outsiders. Although the region is relatively diverse, it is a segregated kind of diversity with ethnic communities enjoying little visibility when compared to the native white population. As a foreigner, one is faced with stark cho...

Re: SimCity
There are many gameplay limitations for it to be a true successor to Simcity 4.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
I think there's room for two forks of this... one being the actual map being planned (heck, even Metro Transit posted a "planned" map downtown) since it makes sense for better mapmaking to have a real impact on our transit usability in the near term. The other fork would be to explore pos...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
"Speicherstadt" - I love it! Glad somebody was paying attention. 8-) The bold text indicates transfer station. The yellow line in reality will share the track with green and blue lines. This is the Vignelli style: * http://www.designboom.com/tools/WPro/images/12b/map3.jpg Major hubs like ...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
The plan right now is to interline the "yellow" line with the Green line to Snelling where it turns north to Rosedale Shopping Center and on to WBL. This essentially eliminates the need for the Snelling BRT. Does anyone else think this alignment is more likely or should we stick with matta...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
In addition to the routes shown on the above map, I'm also mapping higher frequency service corridors, be it the aBRT, streetcar or just regular frequent city bus routes (mode of transportation is irrelevant in this case).

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
29th Avenue station in Minneapolis has also been renamed Prospect Park. I've mostly been trying to figure out how to include the Hi-Frequency network in this somehow, but that's difficult since they largely overlap the rapid bus/streetcar corridors. Ours will also double as a Hi-Frequency network m...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
And an LRT to White Bear from Mpls would be a great addition to the network I think. I don't think you need another Mississippi bridge for this line to work. Co-align with Green until the UofMN Transitway, then follow the transwitway to the East Campus, and up Snelling, Fairview, or Hamline before ...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Transit map in a nutshell. Every map starts by laying down basic groundwork. Colors, shapes, and branding that we typically associate with maps only represent the outermost layer of information design. Everything else is often laborious planning and data analysis.
