Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
aBRT certainly offers a few extra amenities above a regular hi-freq bus. However, in terms of strictly communicating frequency on a regional map, I think it's best to stick to a limited selection of colors and styles. Just my professional opinion

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
I've finally remembered my password. I'd like to make a suggestion if I may. For simplicity's sake, I suggest using the same line color for aBRT and regular bus routes. Functionally, aBRT isn't any different from the hi frequency network. You may also want to use different line thicknesses to show m...

Re: DTE: Wells Fargo, Radisson Red, Edition Apts & Millwright Building
This is a bit off-topic, but does anybody know anybody who sits on the Downtown East council? I'm curious about what they are doing for their wayfinding.

Re: Rumors: A Historical Record of Mystery
I recall someone linking an old article in a Rochester newspaper about the real "Rick Christensen of Wells, MN". Coincidence?

Re: Rumors: A Historical Record of Mystery
Actually, they pointed back to Wells, MN.Taller, Better. Who's the admin for N. America said that the IP's were all strung together and pointed back to Milwaukee. There might be more accounts so who knows. Always possible that Rick was in Milwaukee at the time, but who the hell knows now.

Thanks, Phil. What MT needs is a complete wayfinding overhaul, not just a new network map.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
St. Paul routes tend to meander a lot. Straight lines are "user friendly" but then you have to rely more on transfers.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Seems strange that the 62 gets priority over the 68. Isn't ridership higher on the 68?

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
A route needs to run every 15 minutes or less (6am to 10pm) to qualify as "hi-frequency route". So, in that sense, the 18 (every 7.5 minutes) and 11 (every 15 minutes) would be treated the same. However, I'm open to suggestions.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
AIt really highlights how much attention (or lack thereof) we're giving to East-West routes. My guess is the transit simply follows existing development patterns. Urban patterns shape travel patterns. If you overlayed an old streetcar map and Metro Transit's system map on top of each other, you wou...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Fixed, thanks! Here's a preview of the entire network (On the St. Paul side, Gateway line and Robert St BRT are planned). Thick lines indicate frequent routes (major bus routes and arterial brt), while thinner lines are less frequent local bus routes. The color is not final: individual lines will be...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Thanks. I haven't been looking into individual branches yet, though you are right about the 25/32. The criteria used is seven days a week / all day long / at least 30-minute frequency.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Line work on the Minneapolis side is 90% finished. There will be a separate map inset for downtown, which would show everything in greater detail.
