It really shouldn't be any surprise that Dorfman endorsed Mavity. Dorfman and Mavity have been working closely together for years on the issue of homelessness and affordable housing. I wouldn't read too much into it.Good or bad, Mavity has now been endorsed by Dorfman.

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
I hope they try and argue that since the HPC denied demolition twice it proves their argument. The only thing that will get them is a ruling from the judge that the HPC acted illegally.

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
Also, they're suing the property owner? On what grounds? Why aren't they suing the city for "illegally" allowing demolition of a historic resource? I'd be really interested to read the actual filing, if it even exists. I don't get on what grounds they are suing Mr. Crow. He hasn't done an...

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner - 3rd District
Kind of funny, but I recently put an Anne Mavity lawn sign up. A few days later, a Marion Greene lawn sign went up at the house directly on the other side of the street. I live in Marion's precinct, 7-9, East Isles.

If she wanted to, she could have easily used her celebrity status to raise enough money to pay for moving the house herself. Instead, she decided to pick a fight with the City Council and ended doing more harm to her cause.they did, MS. Curtis wanted $200,000 from Landers to do it

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
Anders Christensen expects to file a lawsuit. He says he's not done fighting until as long as the building still stands. I'm wondering what grounds there are at all. He's experienced no financial damages as a result. I don't think the judge is going to have any precedent to justify overturning the ...

Plus side of a potential lawsuit is that the judge may rule that the HPC acted illegally when they denied demolition.Apparently Ms. Curtis is considering litigation after tomorrow's inevitable outcome.

The section regarding demolition of an historic resource of the heritage preservation chapter of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances says that significance and integrity of the property must be considered as part of the reasonable alternatives. City historic preservation staff and the Z&P found ...

I'd rather have too much information than not enough :D Thanks for joining the conversation Mike, it's really good to hear some of this stuff from the source. Nicole said she put in an offer on the house last year, and another one yesterday, but Mike says she's made no offers. I'm inclined to belie...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
I've been in an interesting conversation about the house today and learned a few things. One is that some people are worried about proper process not being followed. Apparently, once a structure is given Historic Resource designation (rightly or wrongly), demolition can only happen if it is a hazar...

I love that every meeting is recorded now, whereas last council not all meetings are. I also love that meetings are in Youtube in high def, rather than tiny def Channel 79 recordings. Anyway, Committee of the Whole, Lisa Bender talks about this at around the 40 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
It's just so strange to me that Nicole Curtis and Meg Tuthill waited so long to get involved in this issue. For Nicole Curtis to flood councilmembers inboxes late the night before the committee vote was a huge swing and miss. And now Tuthill lobbying the council after a 5-1 committee vote...I'm gue...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
Word on the street is that Meg Tuthill is lobbying councilmembers hard in advance of the full council meeting. If you haven't already, please email the full city council (no form emails I guess, and probably skip Lisa Goodman) with a note why you are supporting demolition. Personally, I wouldn't th...
