Re: RE: Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Look at 5th St downtown as an analogue to what Broadway LRT might look like. But it doesn't have to look like that at all, right? There are lots of adjacent mostly empty parking lots to extend ROW and at pinch points we can do things like share lanes with general traffic. I'm just thinking of the t...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Penn is not a viable alternative due to the takings required. A good amount of W. Broadway is fronted by parking lots. Seems like we could do something with that. The trickiest stretch of W. Broadway is probably Emerson to around Irving, where RIRO might be necessary. How critical are connections to...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Way back when we were kids my sister did a somersault off her bike due to exactly this issue. It wasn't pretty.

Re: Vision Loss Resources Redevelopment - Lyndale & Franklin
There are still a number of old structures on Fremont and Girard that could make way for more density. More difficult than the restaurant-not-a-restaurant but easier than the YWCA our McD's.
Not to mention the huge parking lots near Lund's, ACME Machine and Cub.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
I mean, you realize that building under a major street is a completely different beast than under railway ROW, right? Not that I would oppose it but the state strikes me as a bad comparison.

Re: RE: Re: Ayd Mill Road
How is this a thing that still gets said, here of all places, in 2020? Because we're talking about a very specific road and fairly unique situation. If AMR really has little benefit for St. Paul residents then most of the traffic is cut-through, non-local trips. Eliminating the road won't eliminate...

Re: RE: Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
it's a garbage route that barely serves North Minneapolis. The route is far from perfect and I'd personally prefer a different alignment but the current route down Olson would serve quite a large number of North residents. It does a lot more than "barely" serve North Minneapolis. Sent from my Pixel...

Re: Ayd Mill Road
Would it though? Or would it just create more dangerous intersections further down Snelling or on other local roads? What's your opinion on connecting AYM directly to 94? As for pollution, those cars are going to go somewhere. The pollution won't just go away by closing one road. It could actually g...

Re: Ayd Mill Road
Curious about what kind of traffic safety and pollution issues there are with a completely grade-separated road that IME rarely is congested.

Don't say much about what "upgrade" means. Better sensors/timing?

Re: RE: Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Does anyone know the service plan for existing and new bus routes that will be our in operation once light rail service begins in 2023? I may have asked this before, but I don’t remember if I did. Materials I have read, discuss how the light rail will help Golden The Golden triangle area. I underst...

Re: Minneapolis Vehicle Equipment Violations
It's because people think DRLs are sufficient for night and/or they think their car turns on nighttime lights automatically.

Re: Public Participation in Planning
I will hold up Stops for Us as an example of "opposition" meant to pressure public agencies to do the right thing. Members were opposed to a Green Line without stations at Hamline, Victoria and Western. They not only won, they changed the federal rules to allow communities throughout the country to ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
I don't know how realistic this is but perhaps this is an opportunity to redesign the line to follow West Broadway instead of BNSF. Start with a shorter segment to Robbinsdale with later extension to Brooklyn Park. Yes, it would start the process over but if BNSF isn't going to budge, better to do t...

Re: RE: Re: E Line Arterial BRT
"Zero density or demand"? Along France north of 44th perhaps, but when you get to Excelsior it picks up again, especially where Excelsior meets Lake Street. SWLRT will serve that area just fine. Maybe some people at Lake & Excelsior will go to points south and vice-versa but does it justify a major...

If we want to fight crime, then we need to fight the causes of crime: poverty and segregation. Having more police officers doesn't address either of those. It is possible to address those things while also investing in policing in a responsible way. People do deserve safe neighborhoods. Sent from m...
