Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I just saw that Apple Maps has added the D Line to their transit map of the Twin Cities (it already had the Blue, Green, Red, Northstar, and Amtrak lines). But still no Orange, A, or C lines. Anybody know why they would add the D line so hastily but not these other lines which opened earlier?

Re: Minneapolis Density and Population Growth (500k, etc)
It's very easy to get caught up in the numbers, but at the end of the day, Minneapolis just isn't a very large city, and that's okay. People like to mention that MSP is the 16th largest metro area in the country, but this doesn't seem like much of a bragging point to me. How many people can name the...

Re: Gentrification
What's the best way to remedy this? Are developers not interested in lower-wealth development in other parts of the city? That would seem odd considering the growing demand for it.

Re: "Taking City Streets Back from Cars"
I like the idea of closing off 5th street to traffic, so at the Nicollet-5th intersection a walking intersection of sorts would be created along what will be the two "train roads" downtown. Unfortunately, I think this stuff is little more than fantasy downtown, but in less-developed parts ...

"Taking City Streets Back from Cars"
Interesting video:

It would be cool to see something like this implemented in the US (specifically MSP). Perhaps the Soccer Stadium "superblock" could start some sort of trend in the area

Re: Vikings Stadium
According to emporis, the metrodome is 195 feet tall. So if this is over 300 feet it's quite a bit taller.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Bummer. Maybe the 307 one includes the crown on top?The original plan was 365...the 288 is correct.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
So emporis lists this building as being 288 feet, but skyscraperpage lists it as being 307 feet. Anyone know which one's right?
