Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
I was worried about where exactly this site would be situated, but that could be a lot worse (based solely off that screenshot). It's directly across the street from a park. Would definitely be in favor of getting rid of the surface stalls, given the ocean of parking at the far back of the home depo...

Re: MSP Airport
I would agree except for the MSP-KEF route is still going to compete with Icelandair, and Delta doesn't even fly to Reykjavik from Atlanta -- that route seems to be just defending turf. However, we shall see soon enough! Delta hasn't responded to Condor and started a Germany flight, so maybe this wi...

Re: Fantasy maps
Having spent much of my life just a few blocks from there, I would suggest moving your Trillium Park station a little bit south to be in the center of the little shopping center. Trillium Park is basically just a flower bed. No one actually goes there, where as the shopping center a little south at ...

Re: Grandview District - Edina
I think if you look at it from a pure land value perspective you're probably right -- I just personally think there's some value to reducing the impacts of the freeways, etc. that's worth some degree of cost. But yes, I agree that the places you're mentioning make more sense, absolutely. But it soun...

Re: Grandview District - Edina
I'd be thrilled to get a lid anywhere. I don't think this is the best place for it in the whole area, but it would be great to get projects like this happening somewhere to prove they can work around here. So I'll take Edina's being first if we have to.

Re: Fantasy maps
So, I'm not sure how many of you have played with the enmodal app. It's an online transit map generator that sort of takes out a lot of the manual work. It's quite interesting to play with in general, and has a few cities by default. http://www.enmodal.co/ I've made a super rough version of the line...

My Metro System (renamed Twin Cities Rapid Transit System) map-https://www.flickr.com/photos/141802592@N05/34375699482/in/dateposted-public/ Very minor suggestion - on the orange line, Trillium Park is the less logical stop than the St Anthony Shopping Center, which both has parking and potential d...

Re: UrbanMSP-esque sites in other cities
As a general Bay Area resident, the best I've seen is still the comment threads at SocketSite http://www.socketsite.com/ - but it tends to be developer focused and doesn't necessarily have a cohesive community feel, though you do see recurring posters. Streetsblog SF has interesting content, but no ...

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics
I like the structure of the proposal well enough, though the design itself seems sort of meh. And as politely hostile, if poorly proofread, as the SNO reaction is, I do think it is likely that the residents of this building will still by in large want to have cars, as transit access in this area isn...

I'm not positive which fed it was at, though certainly if Stanek was there the Minneapolis fed would make the most sense.
If they do, the date on the post online was Jan 25.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018
For Rich Stanek fun, I can relay a story that appeared on my facebook newsfeed last week, shared by a statistician (with a PhD): "I just experienced the most egregious display of sexism. I was on a panel at the Federal Reserve Bank talking about my work on predictive policing. Also on the panel...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
Looking at the alternatives for area D, 46th clearly seems to make the most sense and add the least time to the trip, so hopefully they don't drum up too much support if it ends up going through the Ford site.

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
The only loosely comparable cities ahead of us are Boston, D.C., Boise, and Oklahoma City. The top 6 are just eastern and southern LA "edge cities". Also in the top 18 are suburbs of San Diego, San Jose, Phoenix, Denver and DC. The remaining are smaller cities, like Fayateville, NC, which...

Re: Minnesota Representation at the Federal Level
So, Klobuchar is officially staying in the Senate race and out of the gubernatorial one. I'm a bit surprised, as I was mistakenly reading the tea leaves to suggest she was leaning the other way. http://www.startribune.com/klobuchar-will-run-again-for-senate-rules-herself-out-for-governor-s-race/4081...
