Re: Southside - General Topics
My guess is that the City Attorney has been heavily involved in this decision. The articles I've read have alluded to the city likely losing this battle in court. I'm not sure they want to spend the money fighting this - and I can't blame them. That could be the case, but it is odd that the staff r...

What an odd idea (and I'm very skeptical they could get it done for $100 million ...)

38th and Bryant redevelopment. Lawsuit! https://wedgelive.com/2018/08/neighbors-sue-to-stop-apartments-at.html 3329 Nicollet. The neighborhood was pitched 2 proposals, and naturally people objected to the one with more density. So we got mostly "townhomes" instead. https://www.southwestjou...

Re: Southside - General Topics
Anyone know what's going on with the Burger King at Nicollet and 34th? It's been closed for a week now. There's a sign on the door that says it will re-open, but I'm started to think something more might be going on. I haven't seen anyone onsite doing repairs/remodeling (I live nearby). Maybe they ...

I was jogging up Theo Wirth on Sunday. As I went north past Bassett Creek the path and Theo Wirth PArkway were clear on my way back there was water on both...bit later in the day the parkway was completely flooded. The walkway between Calhoun and Isles has been flooded for awhile and one of the pat...

Re: Renaissance Square / The Andrus
Same. The application language and drawings don’t do a good job explaining what they are actually proposing. Like if they want a minor variance to reduce the retail to 40% of the the first floor area (instead of the required 60%), that’s probably fine. But if they want no retail or one tiny ass spa...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I don't do CRE anymore, but while there is a lot of vacant space in downtown, what is available is not what most tenants want. If you need 10-30k square feet of nice space with the ability to expand, your options are pretty limited or nonexistent. There is definitely demand for new office space, but...

The Lyndale neighborhood group votes to give their "support" or "blessing" to a developer's request for variances/CUPs. It isn't binding. Earlier, the housing committee expressed their unanimous support for this project.

Glad someone finally did that! I would love to read the lease.I submitted a FOIA request to the city to read the lease. Is there someone interested in reading them that's fluent in the legalese? I attempted to decipher them but got a bit buried in the bureaucracy.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
The lease is a bigger disaster than I thought ... it seems there isn't language that bankruptcy/financial insolvency is considered default and/or a basis to break the lease. I'm not sure you can just pick up the lease in liquidation. I think Sears/Kmart would need to sublet or assign the lease. A la...
