Re: South Nicollet / Kingfield-Lyndale-Tangletown-Windom Neighborhoods

Back on the topic of density from these newer buildings, I am thrilled to see so many of these projects planned and take off in recent years. Both Nicollet and Lyndale get very residential south of 31st St. That's not a bad thing (I'm a Lyndale'r) but the lack of multi-family buildings is odd to se...

Those new renderings are stunning. But I'm sure someone will convince themselves it is really ugly.

Re: Alatus Development - 411-417 Lexington Pkwy (MNDOT Snowpile site)

I'm sure they could sue the city for wrongful denial of a conforming site plan and likely win, but do you think they are likely to do that and go ahead with making a very costly investment in a project that the neighborhood is extremely hostile to, and the city council has rejected? AFAIK, Alatus t...

Re: 3601 Nicollet

I just received this email from the Kingfield Neighborhood Association. Last fall KFNA was presented with a plan for a 57 unit housing/mixed-use development project at the corner of 36th and Nicollet. The developers received funding for the project and have since brought Aeon in as the development/...

Well, I thought they were going to rebuild, but the site of the former Family Dollar and auto parts store on Nicollet is for sale.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

Finally someone has made a map of the remaining Sears and Kmart locations nationwide through their latest announced closures. Sears/Kmart has mostly gone extinct in the midwest, and if Madison's Sears and/or Minot/Michgan's remaining Kmart go, how long could the distribution math make sense for Nic...

Re: Southside - General Topics

My guess is that the City Attorney has been heavily involved in this decision. The articles I've read have alluded to the city likely losing this battle in court. I'm not sure they want to spend the money fighting this - and I can't blame them. That could be the case, but it is odd that the staff r...

Zoning Board of Adjustment denied the request. It was a unanimous vote. I think they have 10 days to appeal ... Burger King restaurants will reopen with drive-thru lanes, despite Minneapolis ban Guess they're having it their way. BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I live around the corner from the Nicollet one. I ho...

38th and Bryant redevelopment. Lawsuit! https://wedgelive.com/2018/08/neighbors-sue-to-stop-apartments-at.html 3329 Nicollet. The neighborhood was pitched 2 proposals, and naturally people objected to the one with more density. So we got mostly "townhomes" instead. https://www.southwestjournal.com/n...

Burger King should absolutely be denied. It has been closed for 18 months. As the rules state, this should not be allowed to open as a Burger King again.

Re: Southside - General Topics

Anyone know what's going on with the Burger King at Nicollet and 34th? It's been closed for a week now. There's a sign on the door that says it will re-open, but I'm started to think something more might be going on. I haven't seen anyone onsite doing repairs/remodeling (I live nearby). Maybe they ...

I was jogging up Theo Wirth on Sunday. As I went north past Bassett Creek the path and Theo Wirth PArkway were clear on my way back there was water on both...bit later in the day the parkway was completely flooded. The walkway between Calhoun and Isles has been flooded for awhile and one of the pat...

Same. The application language and drawings don’t do a good job explaining what they are actually proposing. Like if they want a minor variance to reduce the retail to 40% of the the first floor area (instead of the required 60%), that’s probably fine. But if they want no retail or one tiny ass spa...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

I don't do CRE anymore, but while there is a lot of vacant space in downtown, what is available is not what most tenants want. If you need 10-30k square feet of nice space with the ability to expand, your options are pretty limited or nonexistent. There is definitely demand for new office space, but...
