Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I'm not sure the Vikings are as well known worldwide as Prince is. Freaking major international monuments went purple yesterday. He was a major, major musical force. People have gotten memorial parks for much less. In some ways I think some of the downplaying of his legacy I've heard is actually ty...

Strip eventually picked it up of course. I find it a bit odd this site's Twitter account hasn't even tweeted a photo of it. What gives?Top banner headline on Pioneer Press...not covered by Strib.
Oh wait this is in St. Paul.

Any plans for expanding to St. Paul Travis? It's been hinted at in the press. But would be nice to hear from the horse's mouth.

$60 million spent on the Penfield, $60 million for CHS field... Hate to say but Goldstein does have a point. St. Paul has lots of money. But the right priorities?Too bad they won't have parking meters to pay for it.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
The parking ramp for the lower town lofts on the corner has been purchased by a developer earlier this year. So... if Bedlam ends up closing, and the 4th Street Station next to is is condemned, that would leave almost the entire block up for potential demolition and re-development. That's still own...

Re: Minneapolis Fiber Internet and Cable Services
Does CenturyLink have a timeline posted for their gigabit service, too? They're pretty tight lipped. Over at dslreports.com forums there are some thread's covering the rollout. Some users have created scripts that are able to map out where service is located. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/century...

Smart Corner in San Diego is a great example of what could be done here. The train cuts through diagonally just like Central Station.

Re: St. Paul Office Market
I wouldn't worry about the Travelers tower blowing the vacancy rates through the roof or anything like that. The north tower has been mostly empty for years, and EcoLab is already in the process of purchasing it (source: I have a LOT of family working at Travelers and the purchase is widely known)....

Re: St. Paul Office Market
Wow. This move could just blow up the vacancy rate in St. Paul. From the looks of it your basically taking a 769k sq ft building (from a PiPress article) from Owner Occupied status to Competitive. A 14% vacancy rate for Class A (from spdatasource.org) will grow to 37%!! :o I suppose the silver linin...

Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
I haven't seen the Soo Line firsthand. But from what's been said doesn't sound flattering. The Pioneer-Endicott in St. Paul, a similarly aged building and residential conversion looks amazing. http://www.pioneerendicott.com/8214467744_269941e127_z.jpg http://www.pioneerendicott.com/images/PE_Stairca...

Re: Star Tribune
I see a Pioneer Press/MPR merger more likely as they're both downtown St. Paul institutions. A metro of 3 million deserves two large papers. Sadly the business economics may not support it. The PP's main problem is it's apathetic ownership.

Re: Does Minneapolis allow signs on its downtown buildings?
Thrivent Financial managed to get signage for it's headquarters. The plans for Wells Fargo's buildings show signage on the south face of the buildings and rooftops. All were approved if memory serves.

Re: Minneapolis Fiber
I plugged in some addresses on CenturyLink's website and found those on 22nd Ave were eligible for 1gig service. I was shocked to see they're charging $110 a month and the price is only guaranteed for one year. Seems higher than what they originally advertised. I thought they said ~$80 a month when ...

Re: Stick vs. Concrete Construction
This past summer the Western Row condominium building in Cathedral Hill (million dollar units, and only just finished in 2007  ) was also getting its exterior repaired. It had the same general contractor as Emerald Gardens, Bor-Son . So if you know of other folks living in their buildings, wa...
