Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
The buildings burned out will definitely be demolished. There's no way they can be renovated. Will they be rebuilt the same as before? Also definitely not. These sites, for better or worse are now the prime locations for redevelopment in the Twin Cities.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Based on real world dimensions from University for LRT right-of-way and station platform dimensions, I think below would work and still be a great street for Broadway. This also leaves 12' of pedestrian space on each side of the street. Per Siemens, the manufacturer of our light rail, the trains are...

Here's why Nicollet was never going to be a pedestrian only mall and do away with the transit buses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Tg9IMCKa5M

Re: Fantasy maps
All great points! I keep thinking that Route 2 acts like a loop bus for the U of M area. It works about perfect, since if you were to get off at Coffman I don't think you could walk faster to where it loops back at 15th - meaning it makes more sense to just remain on the bus and take the loop. Portl...

Re: Fantasy maps
I assume you are talking about something like the gold loop on here or the maroon loop. However, using our existing transit infrastructure 7th & 8th St BRT stops (Purple) and 2nd & Marquette bus lanes (Blue) would be best for frequent loop service. The riverfront needs one too for Mill District & No...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I had a coworker get hit walking at the same intersection to the bus back in May. The city really needs to prioritize peds + bikes over fast turning cars at that intersection! The intersection was Oak Grove St and Lyndale/Hennepin.

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements
Vehicles have been particularly bad lately at blocking the box downtown going E/W with Hennepin reconstruction occurring. Cars don't seem to care if they endanger 10 pedestrians or make 30 people on a bus wait for them. The city doesn't seem to care about the problem either, saying the traffic light...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
Demo of the bus shelter started this morning. They are also out with chainsaws this morning cutting down some of the large trees that were installed as part of the Nicollet remodel. Sad to see these go already. If the city was smart they would have moved these trees to the locations of others that d...
