Re: West Lake Street Hotel- 3012 Excelsior Blvd (8 stories, 100')
So excited to see this moving forward and the BP out of there. Also, was looking back a few pages and saw the rendering from 2019 that showed a much more lovely traffic island than we ended up getting directly in front of this parcel. Too bad some wild grasses or something weren't planted in that is...

Re: 1500 Nicollet Avenue - Dominium Development - 6 stories / 184 units
There already is Nicollet Diner at 15th & Nicollet that is inexpensive and good neighborhood place, so wouldn't want to put them out of business. Maybe more of a convenience/deli/small grocery would do well and a smaller, sit down restaurant????

Re: Arby’s Island
It's amazing how close the building is to the current placement of the traffic signals. This building will be very much built out right to the sidewalk, which will be great.

Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
I wonder if this MNDOT right of way is left over from when the scooped up land for I-335 back in the '70's? I believe the interstate would've ran under Central and had and interchange with Central at that location. This could be so much better if MNDOT would sell that trip of land.

Sign was being removed this morning, so hopefully you got any pics you wanted before it's removal.
To answer the above question, Kokomo, IN, South Bend, IN and Champaign, IL are places where the big hat with flashing lots existed...at least a couple years ago!

Re: Arby’s Island
I love how people in multiple forums are trying to protect the Arby's sign. Those things were a dime a dozen and many still exist around the country, so let's not try and pretend this is the Grain Belt sign.

Quick update that all the houses that are planned to be cleared on this site are gone. Noticed this on my drive home from work this evening as it was remarkably brighter at the intersection while waiting on the traffic signal.

Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W
I agree that I think the format can work. I live in what is the only newer condo building on the north side of the midtown greenway between Hennepin & Lyndale (all others are rental) and we have a very diverse mix of homeowners. We have several couples that are retired and have cabins up north a...

Re: Former Dayton's Building
I was walking through on the second floor this morning and there were several men checking in with a security guard at the main elevators. They had, what appeared to be, large drawings or some sort of schematics under their arms as they entered. Sorry, not much info, just sharing what I saw.

Re: Mozaic (all phases)
Basically all the first floor you can see in that picture (part of it us going to be enclosed bike parking) I have a hard time seeing retail doing well facing the Greenway. The two blocks of 29th to the east are essentially an alley for Cub and Planned Parenthood. Not much traffic going through the...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I'm not against the calming of traffic on 28th street as I live in Lowry Hill East just off of 28th near the Midtown Greenway. I drive to work and in the morning traffic is usually backed up close to Bryant Ave at the Lyndal & 28th traffic signal with two lanes and it is usually a couple phases ...

Yikes, tough crowd. Thanks for the thoughtful response, RailBaronYarr as I was seeking to understand opinions and other points of view to expand my understanding. To the others who provided nothing but snark, pound dirt. Personally, I think cars, bikes, buses, trains, and pedestrians can all exist a...
