Re: Eleven (Ryan Condo Tower) - 1111 West River Parkway - 48 stories / 550'
Yeah, I mean obviously this one person's complaint shouldn't halt the project, and maybe they should have known better. But a realtor selling a view should probably...warn that the view might go away. I wonder if the parking lot Eleven will be built on was seen as more or less permanent by everyone ...

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)
Just seems like a weird choice, because an oven isn't exactly something that requires cooking/baking skills. A lot of easy-to-make, frozen foods require an oven (or a toaster oven, but those are usually too small for something as simple as a frozen pizza). I'm not yucking anyone's yum. I'm sure ther...

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)
The apartments themselves are pretty micro. Looking at the online layouts for studios, you get to have a bed and a sofa if...you own a sleeper sofa. Someone on Twitter mentioned that not all units have ovens. Units as stripped down as that sound like glorified dorms. That's fine, but at the prices t...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Nothing wrong with that idea, but do the lines not meet anywhere in Minneapolis that might make a good hub with better transit access?

Re: Local politics, shenanigans
St. Paul city council shenanigans: Quite a brouhaha on the FB page of someone challenging Council President Brendmoen - essentially encouraging non-DFLers to show up at the caucus to deny her the endorsement.

Re: City Center
Noticed that leasing brochure lists the top of the parking garage as a "rooftop opportunity" and there's a faint outline of a building. Are they suggesting you could actually build on to that side? Or just use the rooftop as an outdoor space?

Re: 2019-2020 MN Legislative Session / Budget / Bonding
I was pretty surprised to see 20 cents proposed, but presumably the thinking is to shift the window of discussion and hopefully get an 8-12 cent increase, right?

Re: Interstate 94
I know the convo is getting a bit stale here, but I’m just getting through threads from the last couple weeks, and this one stood out because of all of the recent weather-related traffic issues. Regarding driving on 94/35W for intracity travel: While it might be worth examining the worthiness of the...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
Eh, I saw some folks on Twitter who are definitely not urbanists or plugged into development news worrying that "condos" were going to go up. So it's definitely not just this forum.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Metro Transit does need to serve the North Loop better, but this isn't a sign of that. The Fed is on Hennepin Avenue, directly outside the building are stops for the 4, 6, 7, 11, 61 and 824. Just two blocks away are stops for the 14, 667, 672, and 674. Just a few more blocks in any direction and yo...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
This is another sign that the city (and Metro Transit) really, really, really need to figure out how to better serve the North Loop with transit. Sure, a lot of workers are probably suburban folks who will drive in anyway. But the North Loop is a booming neighborhood. Minneapolis isn’t doing itself ...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
How will porte cocheres be re-purposed when we ban cars? Covered bike parking. I feel like there's gotta be some sort of design somewhere between "Hewing Hotel Load in the Bike Lane" and "Four Seasons Porte Cochere." Why not some sort of pull-out area and curbside load...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I imagine that the actual answer is something anodyne like "internal politics," but it makes the shakeup sexier in print if "it's about homeless on trains" is the issue. It's just hard to imagine that homeless on trains was the actual reason since there hasn't really been much co...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
You left out French Meadow and World Street Kitchen, which are definitely fast casual. Loon Deli (never actually been in). Caffrey's. Lowry Hill Meats, which I'd count as fast casual. The prepared foods available at The Wedge and Kowalski's, which I'd call comparable. A whole bunch of coffee shops ...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
You shouldn't Uber from the stadium to the ABC ramps, but you probably shouldn't wait for the train either...you'll wait a lot longer in line than the walk would take.
