Re: East 38th Street & 38th St Station Development
Interestingly, that document mentions a large apartment building to be constructed where the ADM mill is across 38th. Anyone seen this elsewhere? New project or stalled old one? A new apartment building planned for 3716 Dight Ave S will include 500 units, of which 125 will be restricted to renters m...

This is great. Reconfiguring all this shopping into entertainment could be a great path forward, especially if there's some centerpiece places like this.

From the development tracker:
"Preliminary designs for future development also show that the United Crusher’s grain elevators could also remain."
That would be pretty cool!

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
For those of us who live near cedar (even as far north as 35th), that section of cedar definitely provides very quick and easy access to the crosstown and points further south. Other streets (34th, 28th, portland/park) are much slower connections

It's funny that such an ugly and utilitarian thing can be a landmark, but I think it really is in this area. You can see these water towers from quite far away (i can see them from my office in downtown Saint Paul, and it gives an idea where my Minneapolis house is behind it).

Re: Maintaining old houses
I was concerned about vapor issues with insulating and having efficient windows, but our contractor told us this was mainly an issue with homes (typically 80s era) that have a vapor barrier installed. There shouldn't be an issue with moisture getting trapped in the walls unless you have a vapor barr...

Re: Future Cars: Electric and Autonomous Vehicles
Unless we have a price on carbon, EPA mileage regulations actually help the price of the car more closely reflect the total cost to you and to society. Why should other people pay for your pollution? Seems like a more reasonable market if the full costs of the vehicle are included in the cost, and b...

The already stellar view from any seat in foul territory at Target Field will continue to get even better! Such a nice place to just sit and take everything in, provided the weather is nice

The Acme Foundry at 3161 Hiawatha (NE corner of 32nd and Hiawatha) is for sale! Hopefully to be developed into something, too bad that long strip of land with dirt piles isn't part of this property... https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/3161-Hiawatha-Ave-Minneapolis-MN/16120184/?fbclid=IwAR2chiEQrcVOB47...

Heard a rumor of 42 stories... don't quote me on that I remember a proposed 25 story office building ... do you think this is office or residential? This is the old 25-story office building proposal that was cancelled... https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/morning_roundup/2013/10/hines-north-loo...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
With a reminder about the 80-story flash in the pan. Whatever happened to that developer? Based on Alex Duval's website (who made the 80 story proposal), it appears he has been some part of the design process of a couple large projects that were built, and renovated someone's condo, but hasn't deve...

Wow thanks for following up! Hopefully a nudge from the city, higher property values, and a good market for development cause this to happen sooner rather than later.

On a related note, it would be interesting to see if any of the "Park and Fly" businesses nearby decide to redevelop their surface lots with airport parking ramps and apartments at any time in the near future

Looks like this would happen with sunsets twice every summer, about a month before/after the solstice on May 20th and July 20th. It would also happen for sunrises twice a year, around November 20th and January 20th. https://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/grad/solcalc/ Sunset (red line) on May 20th, 2019: sun...
