What prompts your response? I ask because I read the article and interpreted that bit very differently.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

In a better world the Green Line would've been a subway, but this world isn't exactly great. This one accident does show we need to keep an eye on the LRT operators, but the majority of collisions are people not respecting the signal. No amount of signals, signage, bells, and horns can stop idiocy....

Re: Interstate 94

Thanks for the response Tmart. You cleared up my confusion. I appreciate it. I asked because, checking all the history of harm to poor neighborhoods and neighborhoods where most residents identify as people of color, I, strangely enough don’t think I ever considered I-94 and 35W as built for through...

Re: Interstate 94

The slide on travel patterns is interesting. Given that trips are short, including many downtown-to-downtown, and drivers have a strong preference for other routes when using as a bypass, it seems like a grade-separated motorway is pretty poorly-suited to the corridor and isn't very successful in i...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

When what little train transit we do have includes a direct line from the airport to downtown a couple of blocks away, and leading cities worldwide are slowly choking cars out of their densest downtown areas, a porte cochère sounds as anachronistic as a typewriter or 8-track stereo. I don’t intend ...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Maybe just naive hope on my part, but it could be a cool sign that adds to the skyline. When I say this, I’m thinking specifically of the 1st National Bank sign in St Paul. It’s tough for me to think of St Paul without it.

On a silly note, maybe they could put the weather ball on the sign!!!! Lol

Here is an article about Sun Country’s new route announcement! I think with the addition of Providence, we now have service to 44 of the 49 states with air service.

Re: Transit Crime

I haven’t experienced it as an issue overall. What time were you riding the train? My first thought was that the smoking was an affect of it being NYE and people had been out celebrating. I know my judgement of what is and is not ok goes down when drinking lol I agree the litter can be an issue thou...

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image

I'm pretty sure the people at U.S. Bank Stadium would rather have the CFP National Championship game, rather than have a bowl that might not have a B1G team available. Thats understandable. I figure we could do both though. Would having an earlier bowl eliminate the chance to host the CFP national ...

Re: 1724-1728 Nicollet

I don't think it would - 94 is about 15 feet below grade here, so the exit would be from the basement level below the sidewalk. A bigger issue would be the expense of several-hundred-foot acceleration/deceleration ramps, even ignoring MnDOTs presumed resistance. I really like the idea of physically...

Re: 1724-1728 Nicollet

This is an outside-of-the-box idea, but, instead of a street curb cut, would it be possible to put the garage entrance directly from I-94? It sounds bonkers, but it could be an interesting amenity that would free up street front space and provide a unique amenity to those in the building.
