Re: Vikings Stadium

I agree in general, but I'd be more interested in a Scandinavian theme that isn't quite as obvious as a ship. I think Scandinavian elements in the design would be great, but I also think a ship would be a little much. I know this building will be in a completely different class than the homerdome, ...

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark

I think that's a proposal by Bill Hosko. That'll never happen. He's rubbed city hall/council wrong too many times. I think St. Paul will get a piece of the DEED money. The rest they may be able to come up themselves since the Rivercentre debt is getting relieved by the Vikings Stadium bill (at $2.7...

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark

Did anyone read the City Pages profile on the Saints owner? Based on that I wouldn't be surprised if a new stadium was pretty non-traditional. Which article you were reading, also maybe what comments stood out? I've seen Veeck interviewed, he does come off as a character, but he has managed to keep...

Re: Central Corridor LRT

Since we are without a lot of the old conversation here I thought I would remind anyone looking for old updates about: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=588802 and http://lettherebelightrail.blogspot.com/ Both have tons of pictures of construction. The thread on skyscrapercity even has ...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

I would like to see 1st avenue closed to traffic from 7th st. to 4th st. No one walks on the sidewalks down there anyways, lets take back the street! Great idea IMO, but only for Friday and Saturday night from April to November. I second this! Aside from the 3rd and 4th Steet ramps you could even s...

Re: Welcome to UrbanMSP!

Ditto. I had been reading and enjoying these threads for some time before I braved up the courage to try and contribute something of use to them. Having the conversation completely shut down was a big disappointment. So as retiredbanker stated, Thank you for getting us up and running again!

Re: Vikings Stadium

I'm also doubting they will simply just copy another stadium, but Homerdome v1.0 had two close cousins in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_Dome and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BC_Place . Also, I was curious how the Cowboys Stadium compared in size to the "Purple Oval" they keep showin...

Re: Minneapolis Armory

Regional tennis tourney sounds great, I think you're right it would take some serious $$$. Local corporate sponsors like Target Corp., Cargill, United Health etc. could easily contribute to make the prize money I find this funny only because I watched testimony by some of the aforementioned during t...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

I still dream about connecting the downtown to the river in some grandiose way like the Gateway Mall in St. Louis. I certainly don't have the billions to make it work, but hey we are talking Fantasies here right?

Re: 222

This may be an idiotic question, but are they reusing the old building on site, or are they just doing a LEED type piece by piece demolition?
