Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

I recently went to a soccer game in Granda Spain. Granada is a first division professional team in the Liga Española. Their stadium holds 22,500 which was surprising to me because it felt much bigger. There was of plenty of noise, and great energy. An 18,000 seat stadium has the potential to be a gr...

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

While no one every likes to see a place close, there is some positive news to offset the closure of Glockenspiel. Here is a story in the P.Press about the recently closed Trattoria de Vinci space in Lowertown. http://www.twincities.com/restaurants/ci_29142208/new-italian-restaurant-replace-lowertown...

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

It is safe to assume that they would interline at the concourse of SPUD? Or is there some thought of trying to get them to the 4th street stop? I think there's an opportunity with the impending replacement of the 3rd St/ Kellogg bridge, that is, make it transit (LRT/Streetcar) friendly with a flyove...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Re the Jax building being sold. There is a tremendous amount of change coming to 4th street. As far as real estate, there is the parking lot that has been sold across the street from it. And kitty corner from that is the Lowertown parking ramp space which is to be redeveloped into apartments, and al...

Re: 2700 University Ave

I hadn't seen this website before on this thread.

*3,000 square feet of 1st floor “storefront” amenity space*

I read this as the building not planning for having retail on the first floor.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

Lets not forget the businesses with University Ave frontage: McDonalds, Perkins, and the old bank building on the corner which was going to be a Walgreens but the word is now that that plan might be dead.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

When I read about the ownership team having a hand in the redevelopment of the existing Midway Shopping Center, I certainly hope that means that the existing structure would be demolished rather than refurbished. It's pretty hard on the eyes even for University Ave: a one story, L-shaped strip mall ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Or at the very least have a center shared platform at the downtown east stop. It's been stated that this isn't possible due to the parking garage underneath, which is a pity, since now would've been the ideal time to do it. That is, before the stadium is up and running and before the pedestrian walk...

Re: Short Line Bridge

Ahh, OK. So this is the bridge that hooks into the midtown greenway. Didn't they just recently announce that they were ceding part of their line that went from Franklin across 94 to the U of MN? Seems like they are pruning their network little by little. But when I ride over 94 on Pelham, I look dow...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

This is the Merchants Bank building: http://www.emporis.com/buildings/128099/merchants-bank-building-st-paul-mn-usa It's across the street from the old pioneer press building (now apartments). It would be a nice to convert that into residences. It would help fill up the emptiness between Lowertown a...

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

I checked out the new Dark Horse in Lowertown yesterday. It was very nicely decorated and they are working on the patio which will have pre plumbed beer taps for an outdoor bar, as well as fire pits. Inside there were 3 large interior windows with a view of the interior of the building next door. Ap...

Re: Snelling and University TOD: "SmartSite Redevelopment"

I was looking at the site from google maps today. If it weren't for the Bank (soon Walgreen's) and the Mc Donald's, there would almost be enough room to put the stadium facing University Ave in the vast front parking lot of Rainbow! Plenty of parking in the back:-).

Re: Road Crime

You're afraid of people littering? Of people who put their feet on the seats? How do those affect you in any way? Do you honestly believe that people who litter have any correlation to those who are thinking about jumping up and starting to shoot? Do you judge these people for their actions, or are...

http://www.twincities.com/crime/ci_28991617/woman-fatally-shot-sunday-night-st-pauls-payne When a mother coming home from work gets off the bus and gets gunned down in the street, not only is that a tragedy but yet another reason to drive in the eyes of potential/transit users. Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I think 5 minutes could be shaved off by giving the train in downtown st paul and two out of the three major intersections (Dale, Lex, Snelling). Oh, and of course, the 280 crossing can easily add on a minute if you don't with the lottery at that intersection. Another thought: anyone figure out why ...
