Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements
There was no mention of 4-way stop signs at either intersection.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
If I understand correctly from your post, there are talks for bike lanes on 38th, but are not being included in this bridge project? Why is that? Or am I misunderstanding? They sounded like separate projects that could potentially be done at the same time if ready when the bridge work begins. The M...

Sorry about polluting with non-BRT related notes from the meeting. They crossed over several potential target threads. Some notes I jotted down:

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
CANDO hosted a community meeting with Minneapolis/MnDOT this evening focusing on the East 38th Street bridge work over 35W that will be done as part of the global 35W/Lake St transit access project. There's quite a number of smaller projects bundled up into the super-project and it sounded like the ...

Re: Cutting the Cord
MLB.tv + VPN trickery is your only option if you're a hardcore Twins fan. I did this a few years ago on an old PS3 and was very happy. At the time, the PS3 MLB.tv application was far superior to the Roku version. It was very painful watching games on the Roku. I've no idea if they've improved things...

Re: Minneapolis Fiber Internet and Cable Services
That's a great article, but all I want to know is when they're going to add my block of my street to their schedule. I know I've said this a million times in this thread alone, but seeing fiber going in one block east of me and stopping a block and a half north is torture . Not that it's going to h...

An interview with USI's CEO, Joe Caldwell: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/print-edition/2015/08/28/us-internet-corp-joe-caldwell-co-founder-interview.html The article starts off with: Next up for the business: seeking approval to sell TV service in Minneapolis. But the only further detail was...

Re: Dorothy Day Center
There's a fairly substantial grade along 5th St so perhaps it's to level the whole plot with the lowest point at 5th, 6th, & Main Streets. Not sure why they would have to dig down into bedrock so far? I can't see the place needing a basement to function?

Re: Dorothy Day Center
As noted in the General St Paul thread, they've broken ground. I drive by the site every day and have noticed that they're having to remove a lot of bedrock. At first I thought it was concrete from prior structures but the piles just keep getting bigger and bigger.

The new Dorothy Day Center:What's going on at the parcel bounded by Main, 35E and the freeway rams off Old 6th? Lots of dirt being turned.

They're really having to hammer through a lot of bedrock!

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Very true. Safety is directly related to the concentration of the pollutants at each distance from their source and your location relative to it, as well as the number of repeated exposures. Which, is why in my original post I asked if there are any studies showing these concentration levels emanati...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
I'm no chemical engineer and really don't know what I'm talking about but I'd assume that just because you can't see and smell something doesn't mean there's nothing there (think carbon monoxide). The emissions certainly are not 100% water vapor (ie. steam). And, even if the average daily emissions ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
A HERC commentary in the Southwest Journal a couple days ago: http://www.southwestjournal.com/voices-feed/minneapolis-burning It'd be interesting to see a visual depiction on a map of the estimated concentration of pollutants as you move further away from HERC. One would think that Northeast would b...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
By "infill station", you guys are referring to a Nice Ride infill station, right? Orange Line infill station seems like it might be out of scope for this particular meeting (though it would probably be good to bring it up and keep the pressure on). The nearest Nice Ride station is at 36th & Bryant s...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Don't know about the numbers, but it's an attractive stop for those getting off to shop or eat in Uptown, because you don't have to cross at Lagoon, which is both dangerous and uncomfortable on the west side of the intersection. Buses and cars really like to pressure you and often have limited visi...

The New Hope / Crystal boundary is a mess too. They should get together, along with Robbinsdale. There is an island of Crystal in New Hope. Another locally owned bookstore bites the dust. Nicollet Bookstore has closed at 4237 Nicollet Ave: http://www.southwestjournal.com/news/biz-buzzes/nicollet-bookstore-closes-after-two-decades I hate to admit that I'm part of the problem by reading electronic books.
