Re: Southside - General Topics
A Fresh Market is going in at the old Best Food Market space at Nicollet and 38th. Fresh Market opened on Monday, 7/6. Walked through this morning. It's a HUGE improvement over Best Food Market. Certainly feels "fresh". They're still building inventory and the exterior signage isn't up yet. I wonde...

Re: 3601 Nicollet
Fantastic news!! This area really needs residential density like this to fuel the continuing redevelopment. There's so much opportunity from Lake to 38th on Nicollet and then eastwards on 38th.

Re: Southside - General Topics
And the house/vacant storefront at 3734ish Nicollet (just north of Cinco de Mayo Mercado) has been torn down. It's a fairly wide lot. The owner of the Mercado purchased that double lot last year and already owns the vacant single lot between it and the Mercado. It'll be interesting to see what thei...

Re: Minneapolis Fiber Internet and Cable Services
Just an observation... I've been watching when the various segments go live on USI's website. The big Lyndale and Blaisdell segments went live about a week before the stated availability dates so it appears things are still running ahead of schedule. Hopefully all the purple areas on the map do inde...

Looks like the Holiday Inn Express is relocating to 317 2nd Ave S and gobbling up another parking lot. The hearing is first up during Monday's planning commission: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/meetings/planning/WCMS1P-142464 Ok... so it's a small parking lot and not very visible from any street, but...

Re: Maintaining old houses
Besides the obvious heat loss problem, is there some other reason *not* to run heat pipes in an exterior wall? I mean, the original builder did it. Maybe water condensation in the wall when you have a hot metallic pipe that close to the cooler exterior portion of the exterior wall? Or, maybe a rupt...

Re: Maintaining old houses
So anyone have experience moving radiant heat pipes? I'm not talking a whole sale move but rerouting an approximately 6 ft section closer to a wall and then running along ceiling a few feet. I don't mean how to do it (way above my skills), but cost and feasibility? I'm sure it's feasible I suppose ...

4. Hope such a widening would also be an opportunity to replace the 14th Ave inaccessible ped bridge with an accessible bike-ped bridge at 12th Ave. I don't know this for sure but someone told me that as part of the work being done on the Bloomington Ave bridge, bike-ped lanes are being added. If t...

62 badly needs 3 lanes as well. Minimally from 100 to 77. Ideally from 169 to 5. Is any of that on MnDOT's radar?

Re: Rumors: A Historical Record of Mystery
Any rumors on what's going on just north of Cinco De Mayo Mercado on Nicollet Ave? There was a 3 bedroom house with an attached commercial brick building right on the curb: https://goo.gl/maps/poqZg The house has been demolished and the brick building is still standing but I'm guessing it's coming d...

Hey, Minneapolis has a handy new Off-Sale Liquor spacing map- http://cityoflakes.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Edit/index.html?appid=e2e7ce74b04440aea87f6549c03ae0b8 Sorry, sort of a ignorant question. So the area in the blue does NOT need the 2000 buffer? But everywhere else does. Correct? New liquor store...

Re: Custom House - Downtown Saint Paul Post Office
There were no plans to connect Custom House to the TPT building via skyway, was there? I'd imagine it would take significant internal changes to Custom House in order to do so in a convenient and usable way for the building as a whole (it would have to connect several floors up). However, the only c...
