Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Is this a spec office building or do they have a tenant lined up? The report is vague, but I did find this: Construction Operations Plan The Construction Operations Plan for the previously approved MOA Phase IC indicated a 24-month construction period (November 2013 to November 2015). It is now ant...

Great picture! Very interesting to see the wall forming along Washington, with the future capstone soon to rise out of the ashes of Arby's.

Re: 510 Marquette Avenue
I am shocked that this building is leasing up so quickly. But maybe it is a sign that if/when WF vacates significant SF in the Baker block or NorthStar for downtown east, those properties could equally be turned into "hip" C buildings in the CBD and also fill up reasonably well.

Re: Andrews Hotel site (4th & Hennepin)
I had never thought about any redeeming qualities about this ramp prior to Aville_37 and twincitizen's comments above. The parking ramp actually could add some visual interest to 4th St. The helix would be quite interesting with some night lighting- a poor man's ode to Guggenheim or something. Of co...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
According to Adam Voge, Ryan/Strib didn't close today as planned. Rick Collins expects it will happen within 30 days. I may not know what I'm talking about, but I'm sorry, everything about this project and deal just screams S-H-A-D-Y to me!! It's not what's reported, it's what's being dealt under t...

Re: Downtown Office Market
The fact that Wells Fargo intends to own their new space instead of a long term lease demonstrates that at least the WF team believes that the MSP market will remain very strong and rents will be increasing, and Minneapolis in particular, or they would have chosen to do a long term lease. It appears...

For JMS9 et al- (reading everyone's posts back to June, so my post is a mix... sorry) For Sea Life tickets- they have an on-line pass for MN residents only. $11 for adults and $10 for kids. Must buy online and show MN drivers license on arrival. I like the concept/look of the new hotel and office- f...

Re: Rampton Apartments - (201 2nd Avenue Southeast)
It's very interesting reading about the Development Commitment- I had totally forgotten about that. Does anyone else recall when the city sold these ramps what other commitments the other ramps had? E.g. Downtown East ramp? Very interesting/odd concept and layout. I'm glad they are pursuing it- diff...

Meh. Just because it's old... have you looked at the house in question? Agree- this is not an impressive house and it is on busy Unviversity Ave- revedelopment is much better than preservation in this case. If historic preservation was based on age alone, a bunch of the downtown parking lots would ...

thanks for sharing! very smart use of technology to create a barrier that doesn't cause any damage- will have lots of applications. Still a little sad that it is needed though.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I really like parks on top of underground parking ramps- and like them in many settings, but in this case, I don't see the need to have underground parking below the park. Downtown has a severe lack of mature trees- hardly any. And to have good solid trees- like hundred year old oaks or similar, the...

Stopped in the sales center yesterday. They are over 50 units sold- about a third of total. Construction will start to speed up soon. Will be putting up a floor a week by the end of May.

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
I know I'm getting way off topic now, but that same week, I took a few pictures (sorry- don't know where they are) of the building during demolision, then walked over to the old Conservatory which was also being demolished at the same time for the new USBank Headquaters and took a photo of a bobcat ...

Also one of my favorites. While they were taking it down, I was giving family friends from the Netherlands a tour of downtown and we were standing on the HCGC corner of of 3rd and 7th. I was lamenting to them about its destruction and they quizzed me as to why- stating that international style is al...

Re: Walker Library
Maybe the city (or county?) should consider converting the intersection to where all pedestrians can walk any direction including diagonally all at once for X number of seconds. Then whether it is a double or triple turn lane wouldn't matter because it would be all cars and no peds for the next peri...
