Re: Crime
It's odd for sure. My only thought was that maybe he was trying to get officers to respond at that spot so someone else could be committing a crime somewhere else, but who knows?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I feel lucky in the fact that I haven't missed a day at the office. I have been enjoying my commute way too much though; dreading when things, especially traffic, begin to head closer to "normal". Speaking with many of my clients about future needs for office space I have gotten many interesting res...

The drivers will pay for it. There are some hefty fees to take the tunnel.

First off, it's an operations center. I think the name itself says bland and boring. I think for the type of facility this is they did a decent job. OATI reconstructed the old Honeywell building a couple of blocks away from this and I think the Xcel building looks better than that one. I don't think...

I believe that the numbers do not truly reflect the amount of crime that is going on out there. Even within my neighborhood there are many instances where people who are victims of crime are not calling the police because they know that they will not get a response or they feel like it's a waste of ...

Re: George Floyd murder and aftermath
Not having a clue about their direction is not laying groundwork and using incendiary language only proved to stoke anger and put more people and businesses at risk. Angry or not, they are not paid to be protesters, they are paid to make a city run and keep its citizens safe. They run purely on emot...

I think the city council has shown they can't handle the responsibilities they currently have. I believe it would be a huge mistake to give them more power. Kind of like giving a 3 year old a loaded hand gun.

I imagine this will not be the last of this type of development in OPUS. You're right Tcmetro, there are a lot of aging buildings that are ripe to be taken down and replaced with residential. Because of the size of some of the businesses in this area I wonder if you will see a shuttle going through ...

I like the new look! The new reflecting pool adds some seating and I like the other seating as well.
Were they having issues with the fountain? I'm wondering if that prompted them to make the design change.

I actually visited the site this morning and cars are still parked there, but there was a dumpster on the south end of the lot., Not sure if it was for one of the buildings there or for prep work. Hard to tell since it wasn't up close to anything.

What a perfect year for them to be working on it too! Think if they had worked on it with the normal traffic, it would have been a nightmare. I can't wait to see the finished product!

I think the only thing left on this is resurfacing the street on the west side of the building. This one turned out much better than I had anticipated.

I've seen both ends of the spectrum already playing out. Some companies are already saying they'll shrink their space when leases renew, but I've also seen some companies expanding and taking more space already. It'll be interesting to see this play out. I can't work from home so it was never an opt...

We already had one manufacturer in the area say that they will not rebuild in Minneapolis. They're taking their 50 jobs and looking to rebuild in the suburbs.

I know a lot of people here like mayor Frey, and until this happened I could have been considered in that category. I still like him as a person, he's very approachable; however, I think he looked very vulnerable in this. What the city needed was leadership and clear direction and he was clearly flu...

It sounds like the US Bank site may be delayed a bit. It appears some of the "parts" have shuffled a little bit and they may need to go back to the city again. Part of the delay revolves around the affordable housing portion. Hopefully it's just a little blip?

I have an elementary school one block from my house; Pillsbury. My neighborhood is predominantly white/caucasian. Right now a large number of the kids come from north Minneapolis to go to that school. With the lines redrawn, there will be very few children of color in that school or at Waite Park, t...
