Re: Downtown Retail News
Since when does the city determine store hours?? It's all about being able to be profitable!! Who in their right mind would keep a store open for 1 customer per hour? Nobody shops downtown late anymore and if you want one on one service go after dinner on a weekend. Until people change their shoppin...

Are they afraid to be creative because it might detract from the Guthrie? I'd hope it would be the other way around...be creative and feed off the Guthrie.

Re: Vote NO! & NO!
How is it that Ford did not take a single penny from the government and they are thriving; meanwhile the auto makers who took the government bailout are already struggling again? Don't tell me he saved the auto industry!! Foriegn dealers are doing fine and building new plants! If Chrysler puts out a...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
As nice looking as these spaces are I think minneapolis has proven time and time again that it cannot support these types of retail, I'm guessing from your comment that they are under utilized means that Cleveland can't either.

Re: Downtown Hotel News
http://m.startribune.com/business/?id=176523091&c=y The rooftop penthouse and garden they were building before foreclosure will make a cool hotel amenity. Haha, mentioning the former Radison on the West bank. I assume they mean East Bank. Speaking of which, I walked buy today and noticed it's now t...

Re: Lake & Nicollet
#1. What is your social goal out of this opportunity? Do you wish to include the clientele from the neighborhood, or are you looking to bring new people into the neighborhood and 'raise the bar'? (I'm not rying to say there aren't good people here, merely that KMart doesn't typically attract the Bro...

Holy smokes, 600 units!! How big is this thing going to be? You could have two 30 story towers for that number of units.

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects
Even if you take out Westminster, that's impressive to see that many proposed or current construction projects. It looks almost like the old construction maps from the late 90's!! Thanks for the visual!

Re: Vote NO! & NO!
I witnessed voter fraud during the last election and was told there was nothing I could do about it, so I'm glad to see that this is coming up as an amendment. This is the right thing to do. We have to show identification to drive, to buy liquor, to open a bank account. Why is it not a big deal for ...

Re: Lowry Avenue Bridge
I took my daughter to the opening on Sat and it is a looooong walk to nothing on the west side. I know the city wants to redevelop the riverfront, but I'm still skeptical that those changes will happen or that a bridge will spur development. It's a nice bridge, but I didn't see it as more than that....

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Civilization-Is it merely Loring Park that is off limits to construction or are there other parts of the city that you frequent that may be an inconvenience? I've already put the DOT on high alert, but I've got friends in construction and I don't want them thinking their projects are in jeopardy. :r...

Re: Target Center Renovation
There is no talk of working on the athletic club. I'm sure they'll leave plenty of access points to your club. It does talk about a new bar, so I don't know what that means for Hubert's. The rest of the work seems to be focused on lobbies and concessions.

I'll probably be there with my kids. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11:30. I know the Mississippi Watershed District will be having an open house too. (they're on the NE corner of the bridge next to Tony Jaro's)

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
My ex hubby lives in the adjascent building 1365. When we were married we lived on 1212 Yale Place and I never needed an alarm clock due to construction next door building the Loring City Apartments. My ex works evenings & nights. So knowing exactly when the 1368 project will begin is very importan...

Sounds like a city lawyer took a look at the situation and said, "um, &#@%!!"
Glad to see they reconsidered this so fast! No sense dragging something like that out.

Can anyone else recall, when they finished up construction on the bridge and cleaned this staging site up, wasn't this property supposed to be built as a CVS?
