Re: Hopkins - General Topics
Yeah, while the strip mall setup right now is very run down, ugly and covered in parking lots it is flush with small businesses serving area residents. When I lived over here all that retail was pretty heavily used by people in the adjacent apartments up and down Blake. With light rail coming its re...

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings
The only other thing I heard was local shippers like the ones you mentioned would still be served, but instead of the train originating in Valley Park it would be somewhere else (Hoffman Yard? South St. Paul Yard?). I wonder if this is a pretty recent turn from UP, Xcel wasn't aware of this even I'...

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings
Valley Park I'm pretty sure is the Shakopee yard. Which is interesting as the Shakopee yard has tons of users right there in town; Rahr, Certainteed, Anchor Glass and KEB just to name a few, not to mention the Savage docks as well. Any additional info about this?

Re: Labeling the Transit System
Its like northeast doesn't exist. Kind of amazing as towers continue going up across the river that the Met Council seems to not have a clue how to serve this area. Dead-ending the E Line at the Warehouse stop hurts my brain so much.

I walked by last weekend and the Sons of Norway building looked liked there was demo going on inside and there was a bunch of equipment out in the parking lot as well.

Terrific looking building. Talking to some PP residents this weekend, the reception for this is mixed, but there is a real discussion happening and the 'parking at all costs' folks seem more isolated if not still vocal. Adding the grocery store in the link and the convenience of it seems to be helpi...

Re: MSP Airport
I just snagged a round trip from SFO to MSP with Delta for $175. It was considerably cheaper than any other airline at SFO or LAX I could find, a nice surprise.

Better late than never I guess, but I do trust Alatus to follow through and finish this project. So here's to seeing this finally inch closer to reality.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
i'm seeing a lot of complaining about the length of the project and I don't understand why. You all know large capital projects like this have budgets and timelines right? If and only if this is not done by November can you all complain. We all knew this was going to take 2 1/2 years before it start...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)
BART is horrible in a lot of ways, but the noise has to be the worst. Had to ride it everyday, if you didn't have headphones on it felt like you were going to get ear damage going under the Bay.The only time I rode the BART it was embarrassingly loud.

Re: Stadium Village 26-Story Tower (Harbor Bay Real Estate)
I am curious when Big 10 and Abdul's Afandy will leave. I ate at Big 10 2 days ago and when I asked my waiter about the apartment building he claimed they had no plans to move or close and had not even gotten an offer from the developer to buy out the rest of their lease which goes for another 3 ye...

Re: Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News
Just showing that companies do in fact cite cost of business as a reason for leaving, wasn't supposed to be a critical look at Jamba Juice as a company.

Re: Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News
Related to this Jamba Juice did cite the cost of business as a reason they are relocating to Texas, so companies do say things like that when it is an issue.

Re: San Francisco
There's a lot going up in SoMa, but that is probably the ONLY neighborhood where such things can happen with the Transbay rezoning that was done, but the problem with the new Transbay district is that it is almost all office, something like 3 million sq. ft. with a few thousand ultra luxury units, w...

It does look better yes, but "tower" is a bit generous, its only 40 feet taller than this one.

I worked for Car2Go last year. If there is a pool of cars anywhere, we would send people out to move them around. So hopefully they still do that but idk
