Re: Heyday - 2700 Lyndale (new restaurant)
Shoddily kept up at best and a terrible fire hazard at worst, with might I add 20 year expired rental licenses. The City of Minneapolis lists rental license payments every year for the Guerts' properties: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PIApp/RentalHistoryRpt.aspx?pid=3302924410037 http://apps.ci....

Re: Heyday - 2700 Lyndale (new restaurant)
Those buildings are in AWFUL shape, they should just tear them down and build something new I think the bones might be good, I can't see building an new building with their concept. The building can't be any different than the Nightengale that opened in the grocery store space that had the fire up ...

There is a picture of the idiot who drove on the tracks. Why do people just have no regard for anything? I bet that saved him 5 minutes though! ugh

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
http://www.startribune.com/politics/statelocal/204957031.html This is great, but some of these quotes from this guy from Eden Prairie, wow. “I bet most people in the state don’t even realize what a bike lane is,” said Sen. David Hann, R-Eden Prairie, during a recent legislative session. He called a ...

Yeah they used to use it for parking for the Knoll workers, but they were all cleared a few days ago, looks like they are getting ready to break ground.

Re: Mayo Expansion Proposal - Rochester
If they are threatening to expand out of state, why couldn't they just expand in Minneapolis? Since it probably has everything they are asking out of Rochester. But I suppose they couldn't siphon more money out of the state if that were the case.

Re: Uptown Restaurant News
just odd a chicago based chain can't make a go of it at that corner. business must have been just really slow. rent cant be higher in calhoun square vs a chicago location. guess it's all in the concept, food, ambience. Well a bland chain with so-so food and with no concept that I could discern othe...

Re: Sherman Apartments/Hotel - (700 Washington Avenue)
Anyway, I like this development. It's great to see Mill District style market rate housing jump Washington, fill in a surface lot, and provide additional retail to add more continuity along Washington. Maybe someday, Washington from the West Bank through the North Loop will be a pleasant walk, with...

Re: 301 Walnut (Sally's Building)
I've been boycotting Sally's for four years, because of their (racist) dress code. I'll be drinking champagne the day the wrecking ball hits that smelly frat-boy magnet... Is Sally's any more of a frat magnet than Library or Blarney? I wasn't aware of a dress code? No plain white tee shirts, i know...

Re: Dight Ave
Me thinks there might be a few areas where public works could better spend the money ($5k+?) required to make such a change. I like Longfellow Avenue but that's already in use. Maybe Calhoun Avenue to erk the do gooders in SW and mess with suburbanites who plug Calhoun into their GPS. well Calhoun ...

Re: Physics and Nanotechnology Building
I guess I don't actually know how expensive it is, but I figure it's not cheap if it's getting stolen all the time. Copper is somewhat expensive, yes, but the thefts have more to do with the relative ease in which to "aquire" and sell it. Rough estimate (local retail prices): One of those panels in...

Re: Downtown Retail News
Sub-topic: Reducing total retail space downtown What are some retail/restaurant spaces that could or should be converted to something else? I feel that no matter how high the downtown population climbs, there will always be a surplus of retail space in the core. This will be exacerbated as old peop...
