Re: City Place Lofts - 730 Hennepin Avenue

Just me, or is it odd the sample apartment floor plan included in the link contains only one closet - not one bedroom closet but one closet for the entire apartment? There is not even a small coat closet near the entry way door. This seems incredibly short-sighted in it's design and quite impractical.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

MNDible: Check out the company's website. They have amazing designs for a $300 million Intermodal station in Houston that dwarfs our Target Field station.

To say they don't have experience is just not accurate.

Minnpost has a story today describing The Interchange as our Grand Central Station, with it's groundbreaking scheduled for next Monday.

It describes the transit center as the centerpiece of an bustling urban park. It also fleshes out two attractive features, the firs...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

The transparent glass canopy over the rail trench removes the potential mausoleum effect that could be viewed as a foreboding impediment to rail use. The heights of the surrounding buildings will also limit the amount of direct sunlight this structure receives during summer months. I doubt there wil...

Re: Central Corridor LRT

The economics of having a $60 Million, national volleyball championship in MInneapolis in late June of 2014 and a Major League Baseball All Star Game at Target Field in early July will provide the necessary pressure to get the Central Line up and running before these two mega events take place. Imag...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Hearing of Wilf's penchant to build a stadium with an "authentic midwest feel," is more evidence that despite a billion dollar investment, we, the public, are being prepared to settle for lowered expectations on the design of the new Peoples Stadium. What indeed does an "authentic mid...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

JFuss: Great job. I just found the same link. You beat me to the punch. The approved Knutson design is really amazing. I love the modern architectural "surfboard" that covers the LRT loading zone. I also am enthusiastic about the large sprawling, green space on both the upper and lower tie...

From the Strib: Surly Brewing Co. has narrowed the possible locations for its "destination brewery" to three cities in the metro area, including two sites in Minneapolis. The Brooklyn Center-based brewer with a cult following has spent months looking for the perfect place to build a $20 mi...

Wasn't this, 10th and Hennepin, the location they proposed building a 50-story plus convention hotel, in the event the new Vikings Stadium had been built at the Basilica site and the Legislature approved a Block E casino? Didn't Alatus propose this as a crown jewel in a sports-entertainment district...

Not only, as you mentioned, would it be on the SW LRT route, it would be another connective link between downtown and The Walker Art Center. Besides the transit...

For all of the knee-jerk folks out there who instinctively holler boondoggle when they read these falling ridership stories, need to understand demand for the system would be much greater if trains ran every hour until 10 or 11pm. Currently, they run in the morning and then sit idle for a large chun...
