Re: Mill & Main

¡Three bedroom units! Even if it's just in the townhomes, good stuff. Also, check out the photoshopping of 412 Lofts on Doran's website. They put it out in the country, from the looks of it.

Re: Northstar

For all of the knee-jerk folks out there who instinctively holler boondoggle when they read these falling ridership stories, need to understand demand for the system would be much greater if trains ran every hour until 10 or 11pm. Currently, they run in the morning and then sit idle for a large chu...

Re: Northstar

YTD ridership on Northstar is down 7.25%, sparking the fare reduction idea. If ridership doesn't increase, lost revenues will be funded through savings in Professional and Technical Services and reserve fund balances.
Booooooooondoggle.

Re: Walker Library

I preferred the old plan that included apartments / hotel above the library. My guess is the economy put that project on hold. Personally, I'd like to see this corner add some more residential to the neighborhood. A good way to do that might be to have the City of Minneapolis act like a developer, ...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I'm pretty sure people were just using Lucas Oil Stadium as a stand-in for scale purposes. It was new and being used for the Super Bowl last season so it was a good reference point for people who aren't quite as hooked into the NFL as Larry Spooner. I would be very surprised if we consciously copied...

Re: Washington and Walnut Flats - 630 Washington Ave. S.E.

Spent two great years living a block from this project. It's crazy how different Stadium Village is from when I first moved there in 2008. Getting off the bus by TCF Bank Stadium to go to Stub and Herb's it looks like there's a little skyline...

I mean, if all else fails, we can just do what they did with it in Contagion?

Re: Logos

Shawn you probably have Photoshop right? If he does a PNG file (or whatever that thing is where you don't need a background), I wonder if we could screengrab the background from the website template and plop the logo on top? That would look nice

Re: Logos

That shade of red looks great with the blue! I do kinda like the way it trails off with the bridge but I guess it would make sense to include St. Paul. Probably the Capitol and two other buildings?

I believe that's Mill & Main, another Doran project. That guy knows what he's doing.

Re: Block E

Whatever they want to do with the upper levels is fine IMO. They have to make the complex work financially as an investment. The main issue for me is to have the street level relate well with Hennepin Ave and the surrounding theater district. It should open up to the city, engage with the pedestria...

Re: Block E

Here's a link to a really good article on "entertainment districts" by someone I'd seen on Minnescraper in the past, he writes for Strong Towns , also a really good website. http://nathanielhood.com/2012/05/06/avoiding-the-allure-of-entertainment-districts/ The lesson being that very, very...

This still looks pretty sad (it could use a logo), but here's the Facebook page for the new site as well:

Re: 2700 University Ave

I think this has a good chance. Wellington has been sitting on this lot for a long time. I gotta think they're pretty eager to get something built. And Doran has been quite prolific of late. They seem to know how to get projects built. I wonder who's been doing their financing? Student housing isn'...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

There was some acknowledgement by Dan Krom of the state Office of Passenger Rail that this whole fiasco should be taken as a lesson. With better planning and communication, this could have been avoided. Peter McLaughlin has been calling this "the Kmart moment of this generation". +10 McLa...

Welcome to UrbanMSP!

Hey gang, So I think things are pretty much up and running the way we want them to be now. From what I can tell, quoting, editing, and all the other stuff is worked out. You can either upload attachments or link to photos on your own hosting programs. I also set up a rank thing by post count, if you...

Logos

Someone had mentioned making a new logo on the Minnescraper Facebook page, if anyone has any ideas feel free to post them here. The one we have now may/may not be heavily based on a logo from a few years ago, and we may want to get a new one up as soon as we can.

Introductions

Hey folks, most of us have been together on the forums--even TwinCityScape from back in the day--in some way or another for the past few years, but I thought it'd be nice to start this again for newcomers or anyone who feels like introducing themselves again. --- I'm Nick, I graduated from the U of ...

Re: Permissions & First Posts

It looks like the attachment settings are such right now that you can upload whatever size you wanted, that might have been something Shawn changed since you first asked? For both attachments as well as linked images.
