Re: WaHu Student Housing - (1016 Washington Avenue Southeast
It shouldn't have to be classified as light industrial, they're not manufacturing plasma. It should be the same as any medical clinic, which most are located on a first floor in a psuedo-retail type of space.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I guess I feel that the number of developments in the 'neighborhood' may bring some of the vibrancy that you're looking for by themselves. You already have the library sandwiched between the north loop and the north end of downtown along with a new grocery store that will likely drive foot traffic b...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Maybe we could take out the sidewalks and add more bike lanes, that would certainly spur more street life.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I drove past this yesterday and maybe it's just me, but this looks smaller in person that I thought it was going to. Even for 6 stories it seems short. I wonder if it's just that it's a full block that makes it look that way? Anyone else get that impression?

Re: Hot Twin Cities apartment market shows signs of cooling
I don't think you'll see a 'bust', but I do think think some areas will not see any new development for quite some time. For instance, I think Uptown will be over-stocked once these latest developments come on board. Downtown will probably slow down once Nic and the Loring Park developments are done...

MOA announces plans for 40-foot ice castle BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Billed as a one-of-a-kind experience to visitors from around the world, a 40-foot ice castle will be gathering oohs and ahs at the Mall of America this winter. Ice Castles, LLC will build its largest structure ever, a castle that will ...

I haven't heard if they got the grant money, but this thing is further along than what is being reported. I know that they have already picked the developer and things are moving forward.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Would there be a way to connect the Gaviidae/RBC garage to a different exit? I doubt it, unless the two Gaviidae ramps connect underneath 6th St (I've never been in the ramp). It doesn't look like there's a dock anywhere on the RBC block of Gaviidae either. So, probably the only way for this to cha...

Re: Bon Quartier Apartments
I wouldn't want to live next to a place that generated that kind of police response on a regular basis regardless of what kind of facility it is, just sayin'. Sure, no one does, that's why this type of argument is so effective. Who is going to verify that the allegations are true, though? I looked ...

Re: Bon Quartier Apartments
Another Facebook link unfortunately : Received a postcard in the mail today from the BOD at Calumet Lofts regarding the proposed Clare Housing development at 115 5th St. NE. The info on the card states that another of Clare Housing's properties at 3105 23rd Ave. S. generated over 105 police calls i...

Re: Hwy 100
It looks like the 100 - 7 interchange is reverting more towards the allignment it used to have. I'm just excited for some of these bridges to get changed out. If you've ever gotten stuck underneath one of them in traffic and you take a close look at the structures, you wonder how you don't see chunk...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
It looks to me like they have added more color towards the street level and the crown doesn't look as awkward to me. The only disappointment to me is that the updated picture with the Xcel building next door really makes this building look a lot smaller. I understand the difference between commercia...

Re: Washington Avenue
I agree with mnmike, have you ever traveled eastbound on Washington during rush hour? They have a left turn lane AND a turn signal and the traffic still backs up into the regular flow of traffic. I still maintain that this is going to f#@* up traffic worse than it already is. You can study all you w...

I didn't have a chance to reply last night, but they do have equipment on site along with a construction trailer. The perimeter has already had a plastic barrier put up and construction is imminent.

Re: Planet Fitness to fill vacant Roseville Circuit City
Some of the retail areas around Rosedale are killing themselves. Crossroads is one of the most poorly constructed retail spaces I've seen - parking is terrible and the lot is downright dangerous to drive in, although somehow it is almost full...Some of the strip centers need to go though; you could ...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I know other people have said it on this thread, but I'm just happy to see something on this block. It will be bigger and nicer than what was there originally. I'm curious to see how the new Xcel building will play off of this one. Nic is more modern and looks like it belongs downtown, where the Xce...

Re: Lyndale Plaza (Richfield)
Agreed. On the northwest corner, they could do a retrofit sort of like what was done with the commercial mid-rise on the southeast corner.... squeeze in a new parking ramp, then develop on the site of the surface lot... New 3 to 5-story mixed-use pushed up to the corner would work great, but it wou...

Re: Downtown Retail News
Since when does the city determine store hours?? It's all about being able to be profitable!! Who in their right mind would keep a store open for 1 customer per hour? Nobody shops downtown late anymore and if you want one on one service go after dinner on a weekend. Until people change their shoppin...

Are they afraid to be creative because it might detract from the Guthrie? I'd hope it would be the other way around...be creative and feed off the Guthrie.
