Re: HarMar Mall

I'm always surprised that HarMar can keep it's doors open. It's a pain to get in and out of and it doesn't really have a hip or trendy store. There is a Cub on the back side, but if you don't live in the neighborhood you wouldn't know it was there because it is completely hidden from Snelling. It re...

Re: Superior Plating site

Enough of the friggin' bikes, there are other places on the site that I'd be glad to ignore, take it there. The Superior Plating site has been sold to a real estate partnership, City Center Realty and WHI. City Center is out of San Francisco, while WHI is based in Chicago. Both entities have said th...

Re: Zip Rail to Rochester

This one actually makes sense to me because of the amount of traffic that goes to Mayo and IBM from here. I still can't make sense of the rail to Duluth, I just don't see the demand.

Re: 222

None of these versions are the one I was talking about. I thought they had originally set on a 32 or 33 story tower with redish/brown stone and blue glass. It was an attractive building, but I can't seem to find that picture anymore...oh well, either way it's water under the bridge...

Re: Bennett Lumber Site

If you think uptown is congested now...
It's nice to see all this development, but there are going to be some growing pains for a couple of years until people adjust to this kind of a population increase in a relatively small area.

Re: 222

I guess some of us are just disappointed because of what could have been on this corner. When you go from the original design of 30 + stories and a design that is very upscale to this present design it's actually quite a let-down. And I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it truly is more of a suburb...

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development

Lancestar made the comment that the strip mall was too car-centric... I would like what you're smokin'. The only thing that keeps these businesses open is the foot traffic. I will sometimes try to fill up at that station and I've left several times because, not only can I not get to the pumps, but t...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

I see "Explore Minnesota" commercials and it makes me wonder how effective it would be to actively promote downtown Minneapolis as a great and convenient place to live long term, using similar media. I think a lot of these discussions are unified in the appreciation and ongoing improvemen...

Re: 612Brew

I'm very excited about this one, it's a unique place to have a facility like this.
When I drove past this the other day they were already doing some work. This will really change the look of the building that is there, right now it looks pretty rough.

Re: Target Center Renovation

I understand the desire to make the street-scape "busier", but there isn't a lot of space to work with. About the only option would be right on 1st Ave. but, if you've been there for a large event, you don't want to take much a way from the lobby as it already seems too small. Everything e...

Re: Block E

The biggest problem with Block E is that it will never live up to any vision that any of us have of a successful, destination block. When this block was most successful it was a book store (Shinders), movie theater(the Shubert), Moby Dick's, McDonalds, a bowling alley and some other dives. Unfortuna...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I'm a huge fan of the Linden Ave. design! The design that was shown with the peaked roof and touted as a re-model of the dome was hideous. I'm curious what the time line is for design work? I'm guessing they're just getting started on putting together the RFP right now, so I'm guessing 3-4 months...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

Dropping a lane for vehicle traffic and adding one for bicycle traffic on a street that is already pretty tough at rush hour might be a good recipe for getting some bikers killed. If you are an avid bicycler I can understand your enthusiasm for a project like this; as one that is not, it's a pain in...

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark

They're going to have to be careful about the materials they use on this ballpark; depending on the wood they choose and the maintenance they propose for the site, this thing could age really fast and look pretty rough.

Go to VJAA.net and they have drawings on their website....pretty bland if you ask me. Far from iconic!
