For reference, here is a older map of a proposed extension of the Midtown Greenway into St. Paul.

Re: Lake and Minnehaha Area (Target, Cub, etc.)
I absolutely agree. The latest plans for the Lake St Station were completed in 2001 and it seems like it would be a great time for Minneapolis to revisit this plan. In addition, it would be advantageous if the city started to revision this entire corridor from Franklin Ave to 46th St station and fin...

Green Streets
I noticed that other cities have green street programs that help collect stormwater runoff from streets. Does anyone know if Minneapolis has any intention to start a similar programs? With our proximity to the Mississippi, this seems like a good program to look into. https://www.portlandoregon.gov/s...

Re: Target Center Renovation
My first suggestion for a site would be the parcel of land that Minnesota United was looking at. This is still located within walking distance of both light rail lines. Additionally, it is relatively close to the existing Timberwolves practice facilities and offices. It would become the premier even...

Re: Target Center Renovation
Looking into the numbers sited in Andrew Johnson post, it looks like we are putting in roughly $125 million dollars into this renovation. Additionally, the city pays $4m-$5m/yr for 10 yr to pay off the existing debt, $1.5m/yr to AEG , and $5m/yr for yearly maintenance, while only making $1m/yr in ti...

Re: Target Center Renovation
Hear me out. Investments in high quality, well designed buildings have so far been great for the Twin Cities. The new Guthrie Theater helped promote development in the Mill City District, Target field has helped the North Loop, US Bank Stadium is helping encourage improvements to Downtown East, CHS ...

Re: Target Center Renovation
With the success of Target Field, and hopefully US Bank Stadium and Minnesota United Stadium, I wonder if this renovation should be abandoned in favor of a new arena? Right now the Twin Cities are home to some of the best stadiums and arenas in the country and it would be great to add the Timberwolv...

Re: Washington Ave Bridge Enclosed Walkway
Another note: School of Architecture head Marc Swackhamer was once worked on a concept to redo the bridge deck and utilize the enclosed space as an extension of the Weisman Art Museum. I really like that idea of turning it into an conditioned art gallery space that could be used for other events. T...

Re: Lake and Minnehaha Area (Target, Cub, etc.)
It is good to see development on the other side of Hiawatha getting some press. Now we need to build on this momentum and push for changes at Lake and Minnehaha.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I am sure there are many reasons why it won't work or make sense but I think it would be cool to a have a connection between the West Bank station and Cedar Riverside station skirting Currie Park so service could run between Green and Blue lines without connecting at the Metrodome station - it coul...

Washington Ave Bridge Enclosed Walkway
I was walking over this bridge the other night and had a few observations. -The enclosed walkway is in terrible condition. There are huge holes in the walls and lots of rust on the panels. -There is not a good pedestrian connection or signage to the West Bank LRT Station. The walking route weaves ar...

Re: Lake and Minnehaha Area (Target, Cub, etc.)
I know that it is not a new idea, but with recent developments I believe this idea is becoming more relevant. The reconstruction of Minnehaha Ave will be done next summer and several new developments are going up on the Corcoran side of Hiawatha. The new developments include the Corcoran Triangle, M...

Re: Midtown Greenway
The 46th St Master Plan calls for green pedestrian and bicycle corridor along the Soo Line Cooridor, or the MNNR Minneapolis Spur. As the Blue Line corridor starts to get more residential development this will provide valuable green space for residents. http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/www/groups/pub...

Re: Short Line Bridge
If I am correct, the only remaining business are ADM Milling and Leder Brothers Metal Company. Is there any incentive or buyout offer that Minneapolis can give to the last remaining businesses to relocate? In the future, the ADM Milling site would be an ideal location for a project similar to the Mi...

Hi-Lake and Minnehaha Mall Area (Target, Cub, etc.)
This site is equally appalling to the Kmart parking lot on Lake. I bike by this empty parking lot everyday and dream of the possibilities. I know the ownership of the property is complicated, but there has to be something that the city can do to push redevelopment. With the Midtown Greenway and the ...

Midtown Greenway Trail [not the transit thread]
With the new Surly Brewery, the future Minnesota United Stadium, and potential transformation in Prospect Park, it seems timely to restart discussions about using the Short Line Bridge to extend the Midtown Greenway into St. Paul. This bridge has serious potential to help connect bikers and pedestri...

Re: Highway 55 in Minneapolis (Hiawatha and Olson)
Yes! It is a corridor with such tremendous potential to link two of the best parks (Minnehaha Falls and Theodore Wirth) with two developing downtown neighborhoods (North Loop and Downtown East). Furthermore, it could become an amenity that starts to gather currently disconnected communities (Longfel...
