Re: West Bank
It would be nice if we could bury the freeways. Not necessarily big dig style but a couple of blocks here and there. This area would be good as well as I 94 in saint Paul between DT and the capitol. $$$ probably prevents this though.

Re: Red Line (Cedar BRT)
I really want this project to be better than it is. After reading the directions on Metro Transit's website on "How to Board" it explains that you need to ask the driver for a transfer to the Blue line. I thought that was the point of calling it a METRO? One ticket, one system, no extra ha...

Some greenery would be nice too along with the glass. Could be nice place to go when the winter gets a little long and would complement the park well.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
The movement on transit this year has been disappointing at the Capitol. If I read the last draft of one of the transportation bills correctly it seems that additional funding may come from Scott and Carver being added into CTIB, although a drop in the bucket and they will want some return on that.

If you go North long enough from MSP you will end up (near) Delhi, India. Wonder if there is any advantage to that in terms of airport location?

Re: Red Line (Cedar BRT)
On the website for this project, it is saying that the buses have card readers for fare collection. I was under the impression that if this was a METRO line, then it would be similar to the light rail system of pre-pay to expedite boarding? Maybe this has been covered, and yes the service will be be...

Re: Mayo Expansion Proposal - Rochester
I think it would be good for MN to cultivate Rochester as a thriving mid-size city, and some subsidy may be due to go their way. However, if you are going to ask for $500 million dollars over a long period of time, shouldn't PR 101 be to ask for a mere $50 million dollars a year rather than ask for ...

Re: Why is St Paul so Sleepy?
I live in St. Paul and I love St. Paul, but I do have to agree with what you are saying, it is a sleepy little 'burgh. Reason #1, We NIMBY like no other NIMBYs can (with the possible exception of Linden Hills)! If you are loud enough, the city council will grant you any three wishes no matter how ab...

Bonding Bill 2013?
Have not heard anything yet on this. Wondering if any transit items will get into it. Other than talk of the transit tax increase proposed by Dayton nothing specific has surfaced, although this usually seems to be an endgame item after the budget gets completed. Anyone else hear anything?

NW Corner of Selby and Western (Currently CVA)
Just a random thought, but what will happen to this building after CVA (College of Visual Arts) closes? This is a building I would not be sad to see go (its the low one-level building across from Nina's). Too early to start speculating? Awesome location.

Re: General Suburb News
Ahh the "Wood-hood" my old home. It will definitely keep growing but they have never been big in diversifying the tax base beyond shopping and houses. I wonder if some of the land that is left (meaning that along the interstate and future Gateway corridor) would be better put to use for bu...

Re: St. Croix River Crossing
[quote="mattaudio"]Is it anticipation of or the cause of future development? It is a case of if you build it, and the economic incentives are there (even if skewed) when you look at it in retrospect it would be in anticipation of, however it is much more likely the cause of future developm...

Re: St. Croix River Crossing
I hate to defend this one but there is already the equivalent of a four lane freeway on either side of this. The project here was only a matter of time. if not 20 years after when it first could have been built. Yes it will push a corridor of sprawl leapfrogging Lake Elmo to the south and push it ou...

Oh, and if this is not accompanied by a development plan or rezoning around certain areas, than all will be for nothing in terms of the development potential with any of these potential lines.

Re: Saint Paul streetcar study
I agree that these seem to overlap with Metro Transit studies and that they could be better served by working together. The map really looks like the old streetcar map for the city, tracks are even there (though probably not useable) for many of these lines. What are the costs/per mile (on average f...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
This needs to be sent to the legislature, metro transit and the met council. You could even get around this city without a car on most days! Where is this again?
