So then Sue why don't you route the SW and Bottineau lines down real transit corridors? Oh you don't want suburbanites to deal with city folk. That's what I thought.
The streetcars have been in the planning stages since prior to 2007. I think that's called a fair warning.

The owners dad owns the warehouse in BC. It probably doesn't hurt to keep some production or warehousing there.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
Just wanted to point out how much a dedicated funding makes a difference. Mpls/St.Paul needs to get on ball with transit, but of course I preaching to the choir... There is a dedicated quarter-center sales tax in the five (may have been expanded to all seven) county area. It simply isn't large enou...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
The question is would the state allow a city income tax? No. Would they allow for a dedicated sales tax? Probably, but does Minneapolis want an even higher sales tax than it already has? No. Can they use general funds for the local contribution to the project? That would not be seen as a dedicated r...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Curious why you think the North Loop is "built for density" but the Wedge isn't? The North Loop, Elliot Park and Loring Park neighborhoods proximity to the downtown business district inherently make these places natural for high density. The North Loop and Mill District are natural heir a...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
The Star & Armory Yard. Oh wait that sounds too suburban....might as well call it the mall at mall of America yard. At Rybak's state of the city he actually called it Armory Yard, which sounds quite urbane to my ears.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
So does this mean we're going to have to hope that the legislature grants a new TIF "district" every time we want to build one of these? I had hoped they would find a consistent revenue stream for more than one line when Rybak said he was figuring out a funding mechanism. I guess it's the ...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)
From what I have come to understand (If this is incorrect, someone please set me straight) the residents of North were extremely opposed to a routing through the area. There are two reasons for this. One- it would demolish a number of homes along Penn and permanently disrupt a major corridor. And t...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Rybak has been calling it The Yard or Armory Yard. It would be amazing to move the Strib or at least its facade. You'd think this city would've learned its lesson with the gateway and block e demos.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Yeah that Kansas State/Mizzou team that won the ULI competition featured that. They also included a repurposed Strib Building. I do like the connection from stadium to downtown core in Ryan's proposal, but I'm a sucker for historic preservation. There's already the existing parking structure under t...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I'm not sure how much more it would cost, but how about making the entire "basement" of the park the parking garage? They can still have their skyway connection, but turn the building closest to Chicago into a larger mixed use complex. Create an entryway from the parking garage to the deve...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Looks a like a great way to connect the majority of downtown to the new stadium. I'm a bit partial to preserving the Strib building, but this is a great project as conceived. I'd still like to see the Strib's entrance preserved. It'll be interesting how the park affects the stadiums plaza space. You...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)
The irony of being willing to knock down houses everywhere in north except for the one place where we had a chance for huge change. Heck they could've moved all the houses onto any of the 450+ vacant lots in north. You don't make a distinction between knocking down vacant houses and knocking down h...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)
Yeah I don't where they get the idea that it would happen or make sense. The 2030 TPP's option is much more logical. I in no way supported this route, but it's what we're getting. Believe me, I'd rather walk two blocks to a station at Penn and Broadway. Instead I'll have to bike a few more blocks to...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)
I've talked to Barb Johnson at length about the Penn routing and there was no political will and an extremely divided population. . I mean, this is the answer, every time. It's not because the alternate route was better (even if it may cost less). Our metro area lacks the political will to actually...
