Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)

I just dont know why at Golden Valley Rd they dont just head NW through Glen View Terrace Park, onto Theo Wirth Parkway to Bottineau. Right next to where North Memorial is. From there stay on Bottineau to 36th Ave where you head east and reconnect with the current alignment. Is that too easy? Not s...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)

I've talked to Barb Johnson at length about the Penn routing and there was no political will and an extremely divided population. The only hope would have been GV denying the locally preferred alternative. Johnson and Don Samuels answer every time has been that the better option is streetcar on Broa...

Re: Ward 4

Well, Johnson got the endorsement on one ballot. She got sixty plus percent. Brogan said she'd abide, but I've already heard a couple hours later that she may be reconsidering. Really can't get excited either way.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)

I can't see knocking down the whole building as good idea, but perhaps improving upon the metal panel portion in the future. One of my favorite parts of this project is that they reused a portion of the old dealership. By the time there is no land to redevelop in downtown/North Loop a better land us...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

I know I'm being a stickler, but Park Place on the purple line is 1.5 miles from the Minneapolis border. Golden Valley Rd on Bottineau is .2 miles from the Minneapolis boundary. The Robbinsdale stop almost seems like it should be approximately as far west as you put the GV Rd. station. In fact the R...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

The dollar houses of the world are a different animal then these homes. We're talking about city-owned properties that were on the verge of demolition because the city wanted to use NSP funds and inflates rehab costs. Nicole recently got two of these homes in north. So we've got broken markets like ...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

Exactly. This house isn't city owned. Nobody's going to get it for a $1. Demolition costs are quite expensive. Whats the harm in using that money towards moving the house that's historic. There has to be a middle ground between preservation and new development. With all the surface parking lots in t...

Re: Nicollet Mall

We all want Nicollet to be reconnected, but the property owner, Sears, has to be worked with. State bonding isn't going to be used to pave through the property owner's land without buy in from them. The city needs to engage with Sears on redevelopment and then ask for state bonding. I'm pretty sure ...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

Love this, but the Golden Valley Rd. station is about a quarter mile from the Minneapolis border. I know this is a schematic transit map, but the perceived distance would throw people off. Part of this issue would be that your western border is straight on the west side of Minneapolis while in reail...

Re: Broadway Flats - (West Broadway & Penn Avenue North)

The original reason for that access on Broadway was the vacating of Queen between Broadway and 26th. Maybe I'm not understanding you, but the last plan we saw did not require vacating Queen. Now that you mention it, though, it would be cool to make the chunk of Queen between 26th & Broadway int...

Re: Broadway Flats - (West Broadway & Penn Avenue North)

Dean Rose from Broadway Liquor Outlet came to the Jordan Housing and Development meeting last night with the latest version of the Broadway Flats proposal. It now no longer has the pass under along Broadway. The original reason for that access on Broadway was the vacating of Queen between Broadway a...

I'm not sure if this link works, but on page three you can see that one side abuts a single-family home district that's primarily made up of craftsman homes. This location is also very close to one of my favorite North Minneapolis restaurants (we don't have many), El Burrito Cubano. http://www.faceb...

Re: North Loop Salvation Army

Well, number one is the concentration of supportive housing in north. Number two would be the fact that every housing development in north is workforce or low income housing (income levels in much of north are comparable to NE). Another objection is the proximity to Webber Park and housing. We also ...

Re: West Broadway Curve - (1920-2022 West Broadway)

I missed the Jordan housing meeting that Common Bond presented, but I was told that there won't be any roof access. Had I attended, I would've asked what the heck happened to the original plan. I assume they needed to comply with West Broadway Alive.
