My dad worked for Menard's in the 80's building pole barns. Menard's required the foremen to self-warranty the structures they constructed.John Menard Jr. is worth like $8 billion, so they're doing something right.

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
They are various shades of gray dotted with yellow seats. Are the seats not all one color? If you look at the webcam (you need to go back a couple days since they just installed a fence) it seems like there are 3 or 4 different colors of seats installed so far. Was that the plan?

Re: Minneapolis Streetcar System
That said, if you look at a map of the Atlanta streetcar, it should be clear that it isn't really trying to do the same thing that Nicollet-Central is; it's purely a downtown circulator (which doesn't even meet up with MARTA!). The Atlanta Streetcar meets up with MARTA at the intersection of Carneg...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
I seem to recall a design for raising the streetcar out of the greenway at nicollet and potentially merging stops with the nicollet streetcar in this area. This quote got me thinking on ways to potentially interline the Greenway and Nicollet Streetcars, so I came up this this sketch. Basically, it'...

Not quite. The parent company of the company that runs the Aldi grocery stores in the US, is also the parent company of the company that now runs Trader Joe's... Originally in Germany Aldi existing as one company. However, the company was split into two companies in 1966, with Theo Albrecht control...

Apparently the man who fleeced millions of dollars out of ordinary people is not done yet. Soccer Stadoum Subsidy? The MLS is barely a going concern, so I think giving them a dime would foolish. This is merely posturing. If he were to come in and say no public money, but ask for even a sidewalk in ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I was under the impression both platforms would only be used during Twins games. To load multiple trains at the same time when the SW and Bottineau are built and more commuter lines come in.

I'm rather surprised they are still using both platforms at Target Field. Why did we build another station again?

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
I'm relatively new to regular transit (bus) use. I just got on my eastbound 61 and it's done up for the holidays. Red, blue and yellow rope lights around the windows and the hand holds are candy striped. Is this normal?? Edit: photo https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/71255212@N00/15978218416/sizes/m/ Ed...

^That image doesn't load. It just says "Image" Despite my excitement followed by disappointment regarding Locavore, like to see something that is a little more casual. I have had to wait 20-30 minutes countless times at 46th Street station to catch my 46 home from the airport. Nothing say...

Re: Oaks Station Place
From the plans I saw, yes they were planning on taking up the available space. Edit: Seen below.Would Locavore have taken up the entire retail space here? If so, then I'd agree that's not an ideal fit.

Re: Oaks Station Place
Why not? I was excited to see a new restaurant in the neighborhood. A restaurant doesn't serve the foot traffic at the station particularly well and has too large of requirement for parking. Two smaller businesses would drive stronger foot traffic and potentially activate the public space. As a res...

Re: Oaks Station Place
Residential permit parking on nearby streets didn't kill Locavore. Oaks Station Place not including enough parking for their commercial space did. They knew before they built this building that on-street parking isn't allowed on 46th (adjacent to the development anyways) and the surrounding streets...
