Magellan and BKV Group are new comers to Mpls. What? BKV is headquartered in Minneapolis and has been since 1978 . BKV has a diversified portfolio of services, when did it partner with Magellan, when did BKV start its development section, when did Motzenbecker start working for BKV, when did BKV op...

Is that a linear or exponential relationship? Or is this something you made up completely?International flight rates directly correlate to economic development.

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
There have been four reasons stated why this is a bad project. The first was is was too loud and some would lose sleep. Second it was said it would upset the social order of the "old money". Third reason was that the greedy developers were destroying the social services that once thrived i...

Re: MPLS Fed
I love these types of responses. "We should allow the recession to continue because if we do something now, there might be a recession in the future." Private industries have equipment going idle, people are sitting at home doing nothing. That is what I meant about capital resources idle, ...

Re: MPLS Fed
Buy into economic fatalism if you want. Prattling about whole wheat crackers, consumerism and the loss of manufacturing jobs is not convincing. In fact they have nothing to do with the article. The United States has capital going idle, and demand for it to be put to use. Allowing inflation to rise t...

People tend to overestimate how much people make. The following per Wikipedia: The Manhattan ZIP Code 10021, on the Upper East Side is home to more than 100,000 people and has a per capita income of over $90,000. It is one of the largest concentrations of extreme wealth in the United States. Most Ma...

MPLS Fed
Great little article about how a public official took a policy stance, looked at data, and then changed their mind! I was not a fan of Narayana Kocherlakota, now he seems like a totally reasonable dude. Hopefully his pivot from inflation hawk to full employment champion will help the economy recover...

You can add Churchill, and Symphony place to dated and expensive apartments. I believe that the downtown markets can absorb lots of apartments, but that merely my firsthand impression after looking this spring.

I remember when there was not a hotel above the parking garage.Since we're talking hotels, I think this monstrosity is uglier (but nicely hidden, thank god).

The only problem for allowing civil unions is that hundreds of state laws specifically mention marriage. All those would have to be changed to include civil unions.

Owning a home generally means people have a very undiversifed investment portoflio, usually just their home. That is not the fault of the home or home ownership, just what commonly happens.

Re: Vote NO! & NO!
The Bush administration thought voter fraud was a big problem so from 2002 through 2007 they did a through investigation. About 120 people were charged and 86 convicted nationwide. Voter impersonation is a small problem. Definitely not a problem worth amending the state's constitution. http://www.ny...

Yeah I saw that as well, and they chalked it on the bridge leading to the trailer too. Took a picture but decided not to get into it. I want to vote for Romney sometimes... A glimmer of a win for corporate citizen, a mirage windfall for salesman in regards to commissions, wonder what percentage of units will be sold to real estate brokers like the carlyle building. John, that first building you posted is absolutely stunning. It's a crime that it didn't get built. As for myself, I know it's boring and cliche because we all live here, but the Norwest Center has to be my favorite building. It looks great both at day and night, and the strong vertical lines make ...

Meh, nothing too exciting has happened at the site yet. I will be most excited when more people live in this area, and make the area better with more activity. Its Quality infill, I never was quite able to get financing available for a marquee tower myself.

Yeah, no one wants to live downtown because its unlivable. Weird how a bunch of apartments are going up and stuff.
