Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
For a while, the Wild had a deal with Metro Transit where your game ticket got you a free ride for a couple hours before and after the game. Not LRT, but it is possible

Re: U.S. Highway 52
A ramp from northern Pine Island to NB 52 would be "nice to have," but it's not really needed How long until the Elk Run DDI is converted into a normal diamond w/ roundabouts? Somewhat related - is there any plan to extend MN 247 west to 52 at the Elk Run Interchange? Is it a turnback cand...

Re: U.S. Highway 52
Hadar, Dakota Co 86 and Co 62 are the most obvious needs to me. As Matt said, extending the freeway north to Zumbrota should be fairly easy. After that, start building interchanges / closing accesses on the north end and work south. Is there a seperate budget for relocating driveways / minor roads t...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
Because the Old People who run St Paul are afraid of change. If they can't park their cars like they did in 1968, the world will end

How long until Minneapolis follows St Paul's lead on a "Road frontage easement fee"?This land now goes off the tax books?

Re: Custom House - Downtown Saint Paul Post Office
All the sidewalks around the building have been rebuilt, with raised planters going in under the windows. On Jackson St, they bumped out the curb and built some sort of tiered walkway between the building and the new sidewalk.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
If we were to seriously plan on building a new double decker river bridge, would there be any reason to extend Tower Ave across to Miss River Blvd on the upper level? LRT down the center, a 20 mph street on one side and bike / walking paths on the other.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
People come into the Historical Fort all the time looking for the Cemetery or the State Park visitors center, etc. Apparently, a lot of them get angry when they find out they're in the wrong place Also, lots of people (angry phone calls even) were convinced the proposed Upper Post conversion into af...

Re: U.S. Highway 52
That bridge was just re-decked a few years ago, so it might be awhile.
That said, a bike path that followed the NB Concord ramp, then branched off to a separate bridge over the tracks angling towards the east frontage road shouldn't be too hard

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
There is noise to move the Visitor Center from its current spot to the red-roofed building in the above picture, cramming more things closer to Hwy 5 (apparently underground buildings were a bad idea in hindsight) The current visitors center is BAD (my wife works there in the summer) - some of the ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Is there a way to get a St Cloud station on the downtown/west side of the river? Or would that even really be ideal since the Amtrak station would still be on the main line?

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
I thought the biggest cost reason was the lack of a second track from Big Lake to Becker. BNSF is wrapping up building that second track for their own needs now, so we'll see. I think any all-day service would require track improvements in the cities as well. I still would like to see this through-r...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Alternative 3 has been chosen for completing the gap in the 4 lane sections of Highway 101 (And will undoubtedly result in the turnback of this section. I'm guessing they're only building one trail to minimize earth moving, but putting it on the east side is a head scratcher, and the one thing I do...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
It would require converting 6th St to two-way traffic, at least to Robert. Probably kill on street parking too. West 7th from Randolph to Smith is the real battle

Was just thinking, this is also really the perfect catalyst to resolving the Ayd Mill situation. Hopefully that gets included in the scope of the planned transportation improvements. I have to agree with you. The state, the county, the city, and McGuire have to sit down and figure out a very comple...

Oh yeah, that too!
Of course, I dream of a two-way 7th Street all the way to 2nd Ave, then splitting into 7th/8th. Would make an east-west transit spine more direct and logical. It looks like there's room to widen the 7th St bridge towards the A ramp.

Didn't know it was in the plans, but there's LED under-lighting along the center river spans.
Also, the NB on-ramp from Plato is finally open. Didn't notice if the trail was open yet
