Re: Lowry Avenue Bridge
But when you cross the Stone Arch bridge, you're at the Mill District. When you cross the Lowry Bridge, you're on a several block long viaduct overlooking some pretty sad industrial land, and then you still need to cross over the interstate before you actually get "anywhere". And by anywhe...

Re: Lowry Avenue Bridge
Some NEers may prefer to take the Lowry bridge to 2nd St to get to Downtown or points beyond. The 2nd St lane is faster than the bike blvds but not as heinous conditions as the arterials in NE (although 2nd St NE is also a good option, albeit lacking in bike-specific facilities). That's true -- 2nd...

Re: Lowry Avenue Bridge
I walked the bridge yesterday -- it really turned out well. I'm somewhat skeptical that it will see very much pedestrian/bike traffic, because while it's really connected well on the Northeast side, it's a real hike before you get to anything on the North side.

No, I think he's done a factory type building in Duluth. Can't remember the name of the company.

Re: MSP Airport
Delta has been recently expanding their international service out of Seattle, especially to Asia. With their alliance with Alaska Air, Seattle is developing into a fairly significant hub for Delta.

Re: MSP Airport
On another note, if we do expect Terminal 2 to be of any use, we are going to need to figure out a way to allow passengers to travel between the two terminals without exiting and reentering security, in addition to the 5-min walk at both terminals and the train wait. Terminal 2 is almost entirely O...

Re: Calhoun-Isles Redesign
[shrugs] If it's a nice looking freeway that accommodates better pedestrian and bike facilities, do we really care? Or are we opposed to allowing cars to move easily on principle? It sure looks pretty but do we want Lake Street on the north side of the lake to be even more like a freeway?

Re: Green Line (Central)
I'd be interested to see how Minneapolis's version of the charts on page 163 of that document would compare.
Actually, looking at it more closely -- are those charts correct? Does San Diego really have five times the system ridership of Metro Transit? 400 million vs. 80 million?

Pretty sure through Delta -- if I recall correctly, their ticket counters already say Air France and KLM in addition to Delta. This is awesome! So will check in be through Delta or will they have their own tickt counters and signage?

Re: Transit News and Happenings
I'd like Phil to critically assess his trip on the bus, to identify why it took as long as it did, and to tell us what he'd actually propose doing about it. It's not enough to just say "This isn't right!" Anecdotally, I understand that the strange occurrence of water falling from the sky m...

This is a great "get" for Minneapolis. Unfortunately for this board, it's not going to give us any tower cranes during construction -- looks like a renovation of one of their existing buildings.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure.
I'm thinking as far as non-separated infrastructure that quiet side streets which parallel busy high traffic commercial streets turned into well made bike boulevards are probably the best bet for getting the average mom out on a bike for utilitarian purposes. Riding down an already quiet and suffic...

As I understand it, they want to move up the off-ramp to Hennepin Lyndale so that it occurs before the 35 to 94 flyover -- that way, these two traffic streams won't need to cross each other. And what is planned for entrance to WB 94? That mixer lane ties up entire free way before lowry tunnel

Re: Uptown hotel discussion
An irregular site like Arby's is probably better suited for a high-end condo that can have some unique unit layouts. Hotels like predictability and sameness in their room layouts, so I'd still suggest that the long, shallow Calhoun Square site is better.

Good to see KSTP right on top of this. Who'd imagine that a bunch of raging drunk zombies would get into a fight? Clearly the fault of LRT.

$2m in public financing? This better be the best damn beer I ever drank. *sip* You got lucky. Nice. I tend to have a much lower threshold of judgement for these environmental clean up grants. Sooner or later, these sites need to get cleaned up, and if a little (or a lot) of public money kick starts...

Re: Minneapolis Streetcar System
Yeah, I had also thought about running it perhaps as a very limited stop service and basically following the Greenway ROW across the bridge and connect up to a Green Line station (Raymond looks like the easiest one to me). It looks like there's track ROW that could get you pretty close. Obviously, t...
