In my opinion there is quite a bit of affordable housing close to Westminster: Loring Towers, Nicollet Towe...

Re: Bike Shopping

My old bike is nearing 10 years old, and only cost me a bit over $200 new, so it wasn't that great to begin with. I've been thinking of a new bike for a while but I don't really have any idea where to start. Some random looking at a few bike shops sites and now I'm interested in Civia. Looks like t...

Total topics swich, does anyone know anything about any anticipated groundbreaking for the micro apartments proposed at Marquette and 10th? If there's a form thread about it, can you post it?

Looks like a new bar is moving into the empty space next to the police station in the warehouse district.
The old City Billiards space is going to be Clockwerks Brewing. Opening this Spring.

Re: RBC Plaza / Gaviidae II renovation

I was actually pleasantly surprised with the interior street level of the building. I walked through the building many times over the last few months while the interior was under construction and had no idea the main level was getting changed to a glass wall between Gaviidae2 and RBC Plaza. It look...

Re: RBC Plaza / Gaviidae II renovation

I just walked by the Caribou on Nicollet (close to 12th St) and they had a sign that they were moving to 11th street and opening with an Einstein's Bagels. Would this be the old Masa space? I hope they are not moving to the skyway...

Re: Westminster Church

It sounds like no retail. "The new buildings in general be used to relocate some of the existing church functions and expand other functions such as 7th and 8th grade class rooms". Also "there will be no public use space incorporated in the landscape area on the southwest corner".

Re: Westminster Church

Demolition of the 1221 building is expected to begin in April 2016. And then they are expected to dig the hole for 2 levels of underground parking. Grand opening for the new church buildings is expected to take place in the spring of 2018.

Re: Downtown Office Market

Can someone explain why companies would pay more to HQ in the suburbs than downtown? I genuinely just don't know. I mean, I've been around West End and do think it's nice, but not necessarily more so than downtown.. Why do you say its cheaper to have a HQ downtown? I'm pretty sure its cheaper in th...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

This is kind of old news, but I've finally used the new Dinkytown Greenway connection that goes from the No. 9 bridge over to the Gold Medal Park area. Why was this so expensive? It's a really short stretch and the land seems fairly flat, but wasn't it the most expensive section of bike trail in th...

I would imagine WF would also want to use some hotel rooms for business travelers to their offices. I'm not sure how many rooms they'd need, but Ameriprise wanted to buy all of the Ivy hotel rooms for that purpose.

I have no strong opinion whether there are too many car stalls or not. I just demand the car levels be easily convertible into other uses when it is determined the car spaces have been over-built. Can you point to an example of where parking has been successfully converted to housing/other uses? I'...

The slide show calls for a transit hub on Nicollet, in front of the Xcel plaza, but that block doesn't have a more detailed slide. Did they talk about it at all at the meeting? I'm happily imagining the Xcel security team having a collective coronary at the thought of another inducement to people l...

Is it just me, or does the last slide of this doc show a bigger setback from Nicollet? http://www.nicolletmallproject.com/wp-c ... tation.pdf
The new design adds a curve to Nicollet on this block so they can put a small performance space in front of the library.

Also remember they are only 8% done with the design phase. My daughter and I liked the idea of the glass cafe (or tourist information store) under the new skyway steps. I think a cafe with outdoor seating in the summer is a great idea (as they showed there is already a cafe under the Hi Line in nyc ...
