Re: Elliot Park
That's a great improvement over the current parking ramp I really wish it looked better next to the Jones Library. They just kinda are just there and there is no really interaction or cues between the two buildings.

Re: Bassett Creek Valley Redevelopment
I can't give you a direct answer on either of those questions, I would venture to guess it is more control than the Park Board would be willing to give. I'm also guessing you are thinking of Parade Stadium that was torn down in the 90's and now there are just a couple sets of aluminum bleachers.

Re: 800 Washington Av S (Guthrie ramp liner) - AECOM / City of Lakes Community Land Trust
I've often wondered that as well, those seem like an infinitely better idea than street level entry, especially along Washington. I really hope we see a big jump in the number of townhomes constructed, I think they are a great product that can and do serve a lot of different populations that are nee...

Re: Bassett Creek Valley Redevelopment
The founder of Minneapolis City, a local community owned & operated 501c(3) soccer club, hinted in a recent article that the club is likely to outgrow it's home on Augsburg's campus as it continues to grow and give more local talent a chance to play the game at a high level. After spending entir...

Re: 800 Washington Av S (Guthrie ramp liner) - AECOM / City of Lakes Community Land Trust
Those 2 story walk up townhomes along Washington feel like a bad idea with how busy Washington is. Loud, bright, little privacy really just poorly thought out all around. Going with additional retail facing Washington would feel like the much smarter plan I hope the city pushes the developers to ret...

Re: Xcel Energy Center
The on JLG practice facility was listed as completed in 2011, I'm speculating that is when the designs/renders/etc. were done. Same thing in the X renovation listed at 2016. With neither of these projects happening I'm speculating it's 1 of 2 things. 1 option is JLG needing to say "Hey potentia...

Re: Xcel Energy Center
So I randomly Googled Xcel Energy Center Renovation, the building is 20 years old already, this morning and found JLG Architects with a few renderings for a huge project along along 5th Street. https://jlgarchitects.com/projects/xcel-energy-center-addition/ Clearly it the project hasn't taken place ...

Re: Minneapolis 2021 Elections - Mayor, City Council, BET, Park Board
This election is filled with contradictions and, frankly, no great mayoral candidates. Where are the small business owners who want to be Mayor? A hypothetical Black business owner, lawyer, corporate professional, or whatever, with basically identical normie-progressive DFLer politics as Jacob coul...

Re: Greystar Apartments - 2630 University Ave SE - 16 stories
Along with most everyone else I'm also surprised a developer is building this monster apartment at the point in the cycle. That said increasing the supply of student housing is a good thing no matter what. So what if the sub-market gets over built? The biggest result of that is rents will be level o...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
In an ideal world everything south of 494 should be up for discussion and rerouting. The current route has ended up being an inefficient mess that has been caused by the need to put on band aid after band aid from short sided and narrow minded decision after decision. If you asked 100 area stakehold...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
Can we go all the way back and figure out who made the decision that the Fort Snelling Tunnel can't be widen or rebuilt and why that decision was made? That seems to be the fundamental underlying problem with all the challenges that we are looking at right now. What possible justification could they...

You are absolutely right Bob, although I would argue challenge not problem would be the more accurate word to use. I'm not going to pretend that I have a crystal ball and can predict exactly what's going to happen with venues going forward but as someone who is fascinated by the space I can offer a ...

Re: Target Center Renovation
10 years is still a little while away, however same location would be perfect since we invested all that transit info structures. Expand the footprint over 7th and 394 if necessary. Would mean better outside space combined with target field and easier connections to A ramp and maybe even B ramp. Ag...

Fair point. I still hold out hope we will one day get a hotel on this side of the lake as I think it would be popular. The parking lot would be perfect for it! I gotta disagree on this one, the building and parking lot need to become parkland. I realize that the major challenges in that, starting w...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
The current deep bore tunnel was a result of extremely unique circumstances where basically every other option wasn't viable for any number of reason. Sure it's evidence that we could do it. But to use it as a precedent as why one should be built on this project omits an incredible amount of additio...

How is being able to say "I've studied at some of the world best and most prestigious institutions of higher learning" a red flag? Should it be a prerequisite for public office, absolutely not. I would, and I'm guess others as well, would appreciate it if you could elaborate on that statem...

It's relatively small and fairly isolated from other areas of the city guided for production/industrial uses. I don't think re-designating this area away from production harms efforts to preserve and promote current and future production jobs in other parts of the city. "I love factories. Fact...

And denser and more urban. And more shopping. I'm almost thinking The Shops at The West End but with significantly less parking and a ton more housingWell, it's be about a third of the size, but sure.Basically the Ford project in Minneapolis.
