Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
It's not even a question of simple rivalry. Growing up in some of the northeastern suburbs, most of the people I knew thought of the central city as being St. Paul, not Minneapolis. Not out of rivalry, just perception probably based on proximity and frequency of visiting.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
Woohoo! We were wondering why two employees were at a land use meeting last month without saying anything. Suck it, Grand!

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
I cringe when I hear local news anchors call MSP International airport. Twin Cities airport. I think I heard that on CH 5? Or for that mater when ANY major event happens in Minneapolis the anchors say "In the Twin Cities today.....", Counter that with crime or murders. The anchors are see...

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
I don't think I've heard anyone opposing this development suggest redevelopment as smaller buildings. I'm pretty positive that's NOT the core issue. The core, if there is one, is an anti-change sentiment. People want the same experience they had as undergrads when they come back ten or fifty years l...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
We are told that stadiums downtown mean customers at restaurants and bars downtown. We are also told that thousands need space dedicated to drinking and eating their own food outside. Pick one.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Lots of people jump off bridges, even some of my friends. That doesn't mean we should dedicate vast swaths of valuable downtown real estate to bridges that end in midair to facilitate the desires of a tiny minority.

Wish I could help you guys, but even though I'm on campus at least every other week, I'm on the wrong side of 280 to have any say in the matter. So send extra messages for the rest if us.

The dollar store comment is weird. Without being familiar with that site, it smacks of classism.

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
I left a very polite comment on the status The Book House posted regarding their victory telling them that I was disappointed and would no longer be shopping at stores that promote bad city planning and empty storefronts. It's been deleted without comment. Their employee is elsewhere suggesting that...

What a phenomenally idiotic decision. Duffy's will no doubt close anyway since the owners want out so only the salon will remain in-situ for now. Making that block an even bigger waste of space than it already was.

^sure, but the point is how to make it less so No, the point was "Dismantling Downtown Freeways", not how to make it less so. And it's scary you've all decided cars are 'bad', and you've decided what's best for all of us is to get rid of them. Cars are freedom, as much a part of America a...

Re: Selby and Snelling
O'Gara's is about 1/3 full during the day and then fills around 5. I know this because I can see the lot from my bedroom window. But O'Gara's is also one of the businesses worried about not having enough since they're primarily responsible for the non-bank parking at the bank lot that DOES get used,...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
I don't have a horse in this race, but you guys have to remember that a lot of people really like cars. Cars are not just uniform, emotionless objects that transport people. It would take a lot more than replacing a couple freeways with normal streets to make driving prohibitive for people who love...

Re: Dismantling Downtown Freeways
I think what's needed here is a local case study. Remove a less "vital" freeway with little real worth and see what happens. I nominate Ayd Mill. Please?

Isn't that the problem?Generally Minneapolis is a place that I pass through because I am trying to get somewhere else, as do thousands of others.
