Re: Vikings Stadium Legislation/Financing Package
But who's going to pick up the tab for the police state that is apparently required to host the super bowl? Minnesota’s Super Bowl organizers say security costs will be covered by private fundraising, not taxpayers. The Minnesota host committee is working to raise more than $30 million to stage the...

Re: Subsidized and/or Affordable Housing
Yikes! You're right, I completely misread that.Apparently where you went to school didn't teach reading comprehension. I wrote Minnetonka does whatever they can block poor people from living in the district.

Re: Subsidized and/or Affordable Housing
Minneapolis should learn from Minnetonka and do whatever they can to shut out anyone who isn't poor from living in the district. That's the exact opposite of the truth. About a third of Minnetonka students - almost 3,000 kids - are open enrollees who commute from other districts. It’s first-come, f...

Re: General Discussion: Chanhassen - Chaska - Carver County
Popularity of Chaska curling club has blown away expectations It’s perfectly positioned halfway between 212 and 169. And they’ve virtually cornered the market on curling anywhere within a 20-minute drive. All of which is populated by folks with outsized disposable income and leisure time. So I’m su...

$9 million has been raised for upgrades along the river. $10.5 million has been raised for The Commons. With the future Vikings front yard having trouble getting donations to pay for it, in contrast, General Mills donated $3 million to help fund upgrades along the river.

It’s not just sportswear. Racist idiots also tend to wear pants. I’d like Matt’s thoughts on the correlation between racism and the wearing of pants.

Public funding makes those mandates possible, right? It’ll also be interesting to see how many minorities make up the privately-funded MLS stadium workforce.Interesting how mandates break down systemic barriers

The Excelsior boutique hotel is dead. "Simply put, the costs of construction of the current design are too high to be spread over so few rooms" said the developer.

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
Also, U.S. Bank Stadium’s design funnels 85% of the fans through the west doors. So there might frequently be as many as 55,000 people milling about the area of the tracks. From the Metrodome, people scattered much moreso in all directions.

Re: Road Crime
Could it be possible that this cyclist ignored a stop sign and sped into the path of an oncoming vehicle? And if that’s indeed what happened, would “the entire system” still be to blame?

Re: Friendships and the Built Environment
Our suburban family ends up chatting with suburban neighbors while raking leaves, walking the dog, collecting the mail, shoveling the drive, tending the garden, mowing the lawn and pruning shrubs and trees. We bump into folks at the beach, in the park, at the coffee shop, grocery store, hardware sto...

Park Ave is also closed at the moment. So that bit of congestion is actually not related to the Portland closure.

Re: Vikings Stadium Legislation/Financing Package
Historically the salary cap has risen closer to 6% a year. In 1995 it was only $37 million, now it's $143 million.I think its a big assumption to assume they'll grow 5% every year for 30 years.
