Re: Embassy Suites (Plymouth Building) - 12 6th Street S
Are there any site plans for the renovation posted anywhere? They are adding all kinds of steel supports in the back above the parking garage and am curious what they are doing!

Has anyone heard anything new on the Grain Belt sign? We're approaching 10 months since news broke about Schells possibly buying it. Property records indicate it is tax forfeited land (which was fofeited as of the end of June), which now puts it's ownership with I'm assuming Hennepin County. It is l...

Most likely just like the Hampton, no basement. They'll dig out spots for footings and that's it.

There was one for a while as the tower went up, but it's been gone for a number of weeks now.Is it odd this project doesn't have a traditional plywood & pipe pedestrian tunnel? Not feeling the safety from those nets.

So they have repainted the exterior of this place, same colors but different sheen. It's now flat, and it must have been satin or something with a slight sheen because it allowed the slightest imperfections to show. With the flat sheen it actually looks a lot less tacky in the daylight.

I think it's more than this, closer to 7-8 levels below ground. The majority of that data center is underground - I think maybe 4 or 5 floors down.

There are plenty of things that grow fine in the shade... And there are plenty of other options to hide a concrete wall, have some optimism!

Last chance to excite people? You have to be blind to not be visually excited coming across the bridge.. it's not like an entire skyline doesn't dominate your entire field of vision.

I work on the same floor as the construction management crew in the Pence building. The skyway level in the building has been completed for a couple weeks, the connecting skyway looks like it has been finished this week. The connecting skyway renovating was done by a different contractor than morten...

Re: RBC Plaza / Gaviidae II renovation
I was actually pleasantly surprised with the interior street level of the building. I walked through the building many times over the last few months while the interior was under construction and had no idea the main level was getting changed to a glass wall between Gaviidae2 and RBC Plaza. It looke...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Two things, a) that's city life for you, and b)that is literal proof of the soul sucking nature of a blank wall on the sidewalk. From City Center to 4th Street, there is crap for a sidewalk presence from any building, and it shows. On the positive side, development is pushing down that direction so ...

As a person that works next door, it's definitely not eye candy, but it's better than the parking lot. They just took down all the scaffolding visible in Nick's picture and the entrance is going to look decent. As john said, the metal accents made a huge impact on it's appearance, lessening it's che...

Re: Adult-Oriented Businesses in Downtown Minneapolis
I'm late to this thread, but as a married mid 30's male with no kids, I would be sad to see strip clubs and sex world close. In fact it's sad to see so many people push to have them closed because of "family" this or "moral compass" that. Downtown needs seedy areas, that's what m...
