Nothing quite like entitled white NIMBYs to get you spluttering mad on a Monday morning.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
...an interesting quote from our erratic governor regarding bonding for SW LRT: "If there's money beyond that, then there'll be quite a frenzy at the legislature with people with various ideas on how to use that money and I'll have ideas myself," Dayton said... He also said the current di...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Prediction: not one more usable yard of passenger rail of any kind is laid in the city of Minneapolis before the year 2025.

Re: Mayoral Race
I guess I'm still stunned at how most of the establishment Dems have lined up behind Andrew. Just as many 'establishment' people have lined up behind Hodges. The race in many ways is breaking out with the old anti-RT crowd behind Andrew and the RT people behind Hodges. In an internecine DFL fight i...

Re: Mayoral Race
The only argument against HERC is based in environmental justice and it's funny that no one is making that argument.
There are plenty of people making that argument, they just aren't well represented by the people running for mayor.

Why do you think that?Riiiight.
Although based on what I've read from the debates, he's probably too moderate to get endorsed by the Republicans.

Re: 2013 Minneapolis Municipal Election
Well that's the thing, three or four of them would be just fine but no one stands out, so I'm already imagining myself in the voting booth ranking them based on things like Mark Andrew having two first names. Or having named a company after himself. It's like naming a band after yourself only weeni...

"Republicans fall in line, Democrats fall in love"What's the old chestnut about Democrats needing to fall in love with a candidate?

Tina Smith will not join Mayors race.
Mark Andrew gets an enormous benefit from this. Other candidates will have to look around and see if they can try to get the business community's support like Smith could have.

Re: 2013 Minneapolis Municipal Election
I thought we were supposed to vote out the people who voted for the stadium deal? Well, who is "we"? Is "we" a rather specific subset of politically/current events interested people who find sport stadia subsidies a silly boondoggle which will ultimately destroy a municipal bala...

Re: Mayoral Race
Mailings are a relatively cheap form of both bio & introduction and voter persuasion, and given that this is going to a *smallish* universe of voters (Likely DFL Caucus Goers) it's pretty affordable and simple to flood a lot of mail. There are people working to line up money for Tina Smith. Her ...

Re: Mayoral Race
CM Samuels has had a very tetchy relationship with swathes of the African American community. He was going to be challenged seriously this year if he ran for Council again.

Re: Vikings Stadium Legislation/Financing Package
Everytime someone incorrectly states that Zygi Wilf is a billionaire, an angel gets its wings. Forbes has speculated that Zygi Wilf (not including his co-owner brother) is worth a few hundred million. I'd be curious to see that Forbes speculation because I can't find it through a perfunctory google...

Re: Vikings Stadium Legislation/Financing Package
There will be WAY more than 10 games. College baseball alone should account for around 150 games. There will also be small college and high school soccer and football, and almost certainly MLS. All of which except for the MLS could be played in the Dome, in a smaller baseball stadium like the new S...

Re: Vikings Stadium Legislation/Financing Package
This is one I've been happy to have been on the right side of for a while. The Vikings weren't going to go to Los Angeles. *The NFL gets $1,000,000,000 for an expansion franchise *The NFL gets $250,000,000 for a relocation fee *There is no place for them to play in Los Angeles *If you think that MPL...

Re: Ward 10
Most of the things that have come from his facebook page are a little off. It's one of the things that not having a lot of exposure to local politics or experience in campaigns results in. Even the framing of it is silly-- you're running for the 10th ward, who gives a hoot how many Minneapolis voter...
