Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
The signs that say Metrodome will be replaced before the Super Bowl. But they will just be updated ugly blue signs.

Re: West Lake Station / Calhoun Village area - multimodal study, development, etc.
I always assumed this location would be taken over to somehow improve the Lake/Excelsior mess.

Re: Westminster Church
My bus passes by this every day (well, for the few weeks they were on Nicollet again). I really like the look of it. It feels welcoming and a big improvement over the office building that was there.

Basil's space is now Jolliet House, open for breakfast only. http://www.startribune.com/mary-tyler-moore-hangout-with-view-of-ids-crystal-court-now-a-breakfast-joint/468851173/ I've never been in the space. The balcony always seems hidden when I'm walking by, or at least I never seem to notice it up...

Re: West Lake Station / Calhoun Village area - multimodal study, development, etc.
This would probably impact the views from the apartments (Foundry) more than the condos (Loop Calhoun). Either way, it is pretty amazing that nearly every lot adjacent to the Loop Calhoun will be redeveloped within the span of a few years. And they weren't empty lots to begin with. They were/are all...

The proposal looks pretty good. I wish they would redo the entire Whole Foods retail area and get rid of the Market Plaza entrance/exit. Maybe shift it to Abbott with a new stoplight. The area is a mess.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I was hoping that one of the lasting legacies of the Super Bowl would be a new skyway signage system (or at least a refresh of what is currently in place), but it sounds like they are just going to add signs directing people towards specific venues. http://www.startribune.com/super-bowl-planners-rea...

Re: Nicollet Mall
I think my issues with Nicollet Mall right now is less that the concrete is grey, and more that EVERYTHING is grey. The benches, the trashcans, the sculptures/artwork, the bus shelters, the rocks at the base of the trees. They decorated a monotone room with monotone accessories (except for a few col...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I think the zip line is a pretty fun idea. $30 is a little steep (especially since it was $10 in Indianapolis). But I’ll probsbly still do it. Picking the right day will be important, but hard to know in advance.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Seems to be running smoothly. However:
1. I prefer catching my bus on Hennepin (since I could also catch other buses going the same direction).
2. Bus shelters are still being installed. And the footprints look a lot smaller than the old ones.
3. Buses move back to Hennepin in mid-January.

It looks like the same exterior material as the new Uptown library, but in multiple colors.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Even more reason why the buses should stay on Hennepin until after the Super Bowl. Actually I don't really care either way, as long as I know where to stand each day. Some of them will, they will all be complete by Dec 31st. Until they are complete they will have standard bus stop signs.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
This is a pretty smart plan to get people to and from the game, especially since trains wouldn't be allowed to pass by U.S. Bank Stadium station that day anyway since it's in the secured zone. I'm not sure how many people take the Blue Line on a Sunday in February, or the Green Line from Stadium Vil...

Maybe they had whole blocks saved somewhere else onsite. The only ones I saw in passing were broken up in a heap.

The stone wall at Washington and Chicago is gone...well, in a pile in many pieces still onsite. I didn't have chance to stop and get a good look.

Anyone know why Bjarke Ingels was in Minneapolis this week? He posted a few pics on Twitter of the Guthrie and First Ave., but he seemed to be focused on the Upper Harbor Terminal location. And Coen + Partners posted a pic with him too. Is he connected to that project in some way?

Sad to hear that Bradstreet Crafthouse is closing. I really liked that place. Both food and drinks were great. I'm curious to know what form it will take at the new airport hotel.

Re: Google Maps
There's already a Marshall's downtown and they're owned by the same company, so it probably doesn't make sense for them to have two locations there.
