Re: Downtown Retail News

I feel like Minneapolis could support an Express store. Heck, we had one in Calhoun Square until like one minute before I moved to Minneapolis. They could easily fit in anywhere in the area, the corner spot in Greenleaf even! (ok, that's just me being selfish...plus that would be dangerous for my wa...

Re: White Bear Corridor

Thanks for making these maps. The capacity is definitely there on the Hennepin Ave Bridge and on Hennepin/1st on the east side of the river for dedicating a traffic lane to LRT. The problem is the scale mismatch on Hennepin. 2 or 3-car trains barreling next to sidewalks and businesses is probably no...

MN Highway 7

This $26MM project looks to begin construction in April. An astonishing amount of the budget, about 45%, is being paid by St. Louis Park. Peculiar for a state highway interchange. F&C story (unlocked) : http://finance-commerce.com/2012/11/st-louis-park-nears-interchange-project-ok/ SEH project s...

Check out the names of the floor plans: http://millandmain.com/floorplans/3rd-floor/

I linked to the 3rd floor so you can check out the layout of the pool and community areas.
Some of the other floors have a plan called "Martin". Judith Martin?

Re: Lyndale Plaza (Richfield)

I was in the area tonight. I make a roughly monthly visit (by car) to the Petco in this shopping center. I am always astonished at the density/urbanity of this stretch of Lyndale, and wonder how exactly it came to be. The off-kilter intersection seems to have a negative affect on the pedestrian frie...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News

Even if they're working around the clock, Monday still seems like a stretch. There's more to opening a new bar/restaurant than physically building it. Even if it is the 2nd location. Do they have the entire staff hired and trained over at 7 Corners?

Re: BoatWorks Commons - White Bear Lake

There's also some major dramz over parking, naturally Council members said more time is needed to evaluate parking issues and discuss the concept plan with residents. "I'm concerned about the parking. I'm not sure in my mind that it's resolved," said Mayor Jo Emerson. Councilman Dan Jones...

Continued from the Orange Line/35W thread: I had a conversation with an older fellow (like retirement age) about ... double-decking the tunnel (he brought it up first), etc. What'd you learn?????? We were just spitballing about possibilities. It seems that a final decision has not been reached on th...

Or they could tunnel through near north... http://goo.gl/maps/GQFSr Having been in Chicago and DC many times, it sure is nicer to be in neighborhoods that have subways versus elevated or street level lines... I know a noisy El isn't the same as street-running LRT like on Minnehaha Ave, but still I ...

Re: Park Vista (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)

Since it probably doesn't merit its own thread, I'll ask here. Can anyone fill me in on the story behind the vacant lot in front of the Guthrie parking ramp, facing Washington? I know the ramp was designed to be wrapped with buildings, but what happened? Has anything been proposed here recently?

Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N

Crappy suburbaniety aside, how was something with such a low FAR approved in the first place? Seems like that shouldn't even have been allowed in the North Loop to begin with. Failure/loophole in the zoning code? That is a butt ton of surface parking, and I can't imagine it's too difficult to find a...

Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)

Can't really complain though. ANY evening news story about Minneapolis or St. Paul that isn't about crime (or wasteful spending) is a HUGE plus in my book, given how negatively I perceive how negatively suburbanites perceive the big scary cities.

Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)

Odd KSTP story/clip about Dock Street (and potential Hines office tower) blocking Target Field views in the North Loop. Kinda surprising that they mentioned the potential increase in transit and bike trail usage without finding some right-wing conspiracy angle to taint the story (it is KSTP after al...
