Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
I'm becoming more convinced finally that a strong key for adding vibrancy to the "Nicollet Mile" is clustering ever more residential on Nicollet. Regardless of the final design, this will be good.

But awesome to have you share!
If you don't mind a tangent... What are the reasons this gets chosen over alternatives? And what are alternatives that might be used in a project in our region?

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
Behind? You refer to the space between the buildings and TH 100? That is planned to be commercial along Utica. The initial plan was to run 16th through to the frontage road access under 100, but when Golden Valley objected (residents in the South Tyrol Hills neighborhood believed it would cause more...

Very attractive.
If it won't have one when it opens I think the underside of the bridge by the open space should have a lighting art installation.

Mowers: manual reel push vs. gas-powered vs. electric
Ignoring the ideal of having no lawn, living in the Twin Cities you probably have a lawn to tend. I've only ever used gas-powered mowers but now that I've reduced my own to a quarter of its original area (by ripping out underperforming lawn and replaced with native perennials), and it is entirely le...

Yeah, a before and after comparison would be especially useful here. Changes not standing out.
Mississippi Crossings, 60 acre mixed use - Champlin
The city of Champlin spent $15 million acquiring the land and upgrading the utilities to make this redevelopment of the Champlin side of the Hwy 169 bridge over the Mississippi River. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/blog/real_estate/2014/05/cassidy-turley-marketing-60-acre-mixed-use-project.ht...

I like the rendering over the existing in the side by side. The existing has a smothering presence. Not to say it couldn't be improved even greater. I'm okay with it.

Re: Target Field Station
Does anyone know if it will be illuminated at night? It would be remiss if the design didn't have it lighted. Speaking of design, the photo isn't clear but it looks like it is identical to the Target corporate logo font. You're really stretching a bit for this one... It isn't a stretch in the least...

Re: Lennar Mixed-Use Project (6725 York Ave) - Edina
School district boundaries were drawn many many decades ago. Long before many suburbs incorporated as a city these were farms with kids who had to go to school somewhere. School districts we're draw zig zagging through farm fields. It's possibly odd today but made huge sense then. But there is zero ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
There will be a long long learning curve. Might as well put fenders on the rail cars, it will be cheaper to replace the fender. Second thought, there should be a special license plate for people so stupid they get rammed by a LRT, like convicted drunk drivers need whiskey plates for a while. That wa...

Re: Opposition to new Development
I specifically moved to a neighborhood that wasn't strapped with an HOA. Seems like certain neighborhoods have been burdened with neighborhood groups that are taking for themselves some problematic aspects of HOA boards. But with even less accountability.

The drawings of the property don't inspire much for pedestrian "neighborhood" connections, hope that is brought up when the city discusses it.
